Daniel “Danny” Navarro Sr. 71 of Kailua-Kona, died May 4th in Honolulu. He was a retired chef at Kona Village Resort. A celebration of Life will be held on July 22nd at Palisades Pavilion from 11 a.m.-4 p.m.. He is survived by his wife, Mary Navarro. sons, Danny (Kelly) Navarro of Kailua-Kona, Giovanni (Angelia) Marcelino-Navarro of Waimea, Daren Navarro of Honolulu, Delvin (Judy) Navarro of Kailua-Kona and Gabriel (Uluwehi) Marcelino-Navarro of Kailua-Kona. Michael Yoshino

Michael Tatsuo Yoshino, age 74, of Hilo, Hawaii, died May 12, 2023 in the Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home in Hilo. He was born in Hilo, Hawaii on October 2, 1948 and was the former manager of Honsport in Hilo before retiring as the operations manager at Pint Size Corporation. He was a United States Army veteran. Private services held. No flowers. No Koden (monetary offerings). He is survived by wife, Merle Yoshino of Hilo; sons, Jason K. (Alison) Yoshino of Honolulu and Craig T. (Krystle Bala) Yoshino of Hilo; sisters, Phyllis (Croyden) Furukawa of Hilo and Paula (Paul) Yoshioka of Hilo; two grandchildren, numerous nephews, nieces and cousins. Thomas Halley

Thomas Joe Halley of Waikoloa, Hawaii died May 17, 2023 at his residence. Born in San Diego, CA on December 10, 1955. He was a roofing contractor in San Diego, a sportfishing boat captain in San Diego and Hawaii, and a carpenter in Hawaii. He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Halley of Waikoloa, brother Tim Halley of Austin, TX, sister Lori Halley of San Diego, CA, two nieces and a nephew. Wendy Andrade Fausset, 60, of Euless, Texas and formerly of Big Island of Hawaii, passed away on May 21, 2023 in Texas, born in Pahala; she was employed as a Medical Chart Auditor with Christus Healthcare. Bert Naihe

Bert Kimo Naihe, 62, of Hilo, died on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at Hilo Medical Center. He was born on November 6, 1960 in Honolulu, Hawaii. He was a musician; a Waiakea High School security; and a residential specialist for The Salvation Army. Roger Pflum

Roger Lawrence Pflum, Jr., 75, of Kurtistown died May 28 at the Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Imperial, Nebraska, he was a Marine Biologist who headed the Departments of Marine Resources in Palau and American Samoa and coordinator for the Hawaii County Senior Nutrition Program at Aunty Sally’s Luau Hale. A celebration of his life will take place at 11 a.m. Monday June 26, 2023 at the Fairway Grill Banquet Room located at the Hilo Municipal Golf Course. Casual attire. Stanley Brooks

Stanley Brooks Jr., 73, of Pahala, died May 29, 2023 at home. Born March 2, 1950, he was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Ka’u Ward and worked as “Santa” for for almost 20 years at the Prince Kuhio Mall and later Ala Moana Shopping Center on Oahu. Services to be held on Saturday, June 24th, 2023 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Chapel in Na’alehu, 95-5682 Mamalahoa Hwy., with a visitation from 9-11 a.m. with a service to follow at 11 a.m. Burial in Na’alehu Cemetery with lunch to follow at the chapel. Hamako Nishida

Hamako “Nancy” Nishida, 87, of Hilo, died June 2, 2023 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Kawaihae, she was retired from the former Food Fair Supermarket, had worked at the former Ben Franklin stores and a member of Puueo Kumiai. Thomas Tadashi Takimoto, 92, of Hilo died June 2 at his home. Born in Hilo, he was the retired Director of Industrial Relations for C. Breheda Aiona

Breheda Salinas Aiona, 87, of Kapaau, Hawaii died June 4, 2023 at her residence. Born in Pepeekeo, Hawaii on October 8, 1935, she was a professional waitress at the Naniloa, Mauna Kea Beach and Hapuna Beach Prince hotels. She is survived by her sons, Martin (Lynette) Ellazar of Kailua Kona, Robert (Debbie) Ellazar of Makapala, Shannon (Emely) Aiona of Kauai and Jessie Aiona of Kapaau; brother, Jose (Maria) Salinas of Kailua Kona; sisters, Julita (Rudy) Silan of San Diego, CA., Rita Daniel of Wyoming, and Gloria Grider of Hilo; 12 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren. Pauline Fonseca

Pauline Fonseca, 93 of Pahoa, passed away on June 9, 2023 at Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center. Born January 12, 1930 in Austria she moved to Hawaii in 1953 and retired as manager of the former Any Place Lounge in Honolulu. She was a member of the Paradise Park Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
