The Kahilu Youth Troupe is led by veteran stage director Beth Bornstein Dunnington. They first presented Rent in 2013, and a few of those original cast members are participating in this 10th Anniversary production. Beth is joined by a talented team, including choreographer Angel Prince of Prince Dance Company, music director Maika’i Nash, and vocal coach Val Underwood, guiding a cast of professional and Youth Troupe members.

The rock musical Rent tells the story of a group of impoverished young artists struggling to survive and create a life in Lower Manhattan’s East Village, under the shadow of the AIDS epidemic. It is based loosely on Giacomo Puccini’s La Bohème.
