Job Fair at Kona Commons Shopping Center
Looking for a new job? Looking for a summer job? The merchants at Kona Commons Shopping Center are looking for you! Head to Kona Commons on Friday, June 2, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. or Saturday, June 3, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There are more than a dozen merchants hiring and some will offer on-the-spot interviews for a job. Management, retail, and food service positions are all available. High school students and college students home for the summer are welcome. Merchants who are hiring will have tables outside their storefronts with staff to handle applications and interviews.
Hawaiian Ocean View Estates Well Repairs Completed
Repairs to the Hawaiian Ocean View Estates (HOVE) well in Ka‘u have been completed. Normal water usage from the water spigots may resume.The HOVE standpipe facility for commercial water haulers will reopen as of Monday, May 22, 2023.Please call (808) 961-8790 for additional information or email dws@hawaiidws.org.The Department sincerely acknowledges the community’s efforts to reduce water usage while the emergency well repairs were underway.
Ohana Shoreline Fishing Tournament registration
The Hawai’i County Department of Parks and Recreation invites anglers to register for the 25th Annual ‘Ohana Shoreline Fishing Tournament. This event will be held August 18 – 20, 2023. Registration forms and tournament rules are available at all County Parks and Recreation facilities island wide, S. Tokunaga Store in Hilo, J. Hara Store in Kurtistown, Hawaiian Island Creations in Waimea, and Pacific Rim Sports Fishing in Kona. Forms also can be found online at https://www.parks.hawaiicounty.gov/facilities-parks/recreation. Completed registration forms must be mailed into the Recreation Division Office at 799 Pi‘ilani Street, Hilo, HI 96720 and postmarked by Friday, July 21, 2023. Weigh-ins will be conducted from noon until 1:30 p.m. Sunday, August 20, 2023, at Honoka‘a Sports Complex gymnasium: 45-451 Akia Street, Honoka‘a, Hawai‘i. Individual age group divisions are keiki (5 to 12 years old), teens (13-17 years old), men and women (18 years or older), and kupuna (55 years or older). There will also be an ‘ohana team division for keiki/teens and one adult. Other contests offered during this event are invasive species division and an art contest.
