Jeanette Santos

Jeanette Mae Santos, 83, of Hilo, died March 24 at the Hilo Medical Center. She was born in Hilo and was a collector with the former Frank Huff Agency, then with the Collection Agency of Hawaii, was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church. Visitation 4-6 p.m. Sunday May 7 at the Dodo Mortuary chapel. Wake service at 6 p.m. Visitation also 8-9 a.m. Monday May 8 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church. Mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. Committal Services noon at the Hawaii Veterans Cemetery #2 pavilion. Casual attire. She is survived by husband, Daniel Everett Santos of Hilo; son, Michael Santos of Montana; daughters, Donette (Bobby) Iyo and Laurie (Chucky) Lewis of Hilo, Patrice (Yaku Kotaki) David of Paauilo and Jennifer (Wayne) Kuanoni of Honolulu; brothers, Jerome Varize of Pahoa, Manuel (Betty Joyce) Varize, Jr. and Frederick (Joan) Varize of Hilo; sisters, Barbara (Bob) Kubo of Hakalau, Elizabeth (Virgil) Fernandez and Collette Varize of Hilo; 22 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, an aunt; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Edith Sakamoto

Edith “Molo” Y. Sakamoto, 95, of Hilo, died March 26, 2023, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Kaunakakai, Molokai, she was a retired registered surgical nurse at the former Hilo Hospital and member of Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin. Private services were held. Family requests no monetary gifts or flowers. She is survived by daughters, Sharon (Al Kobayashi) Sakamoto and Claire (Curtis) Hong of Hilo; grandson, Dylan Hong of Hilo; nieces, nephews and cousins. Belinda Riveira

Belinda Ann Riveira, 72, of Waimea died April 6, 2023 at her residence. Born in Honolulu, Hawaii on April 27, 1950, she was a food waitress at the Mauna Lani Resort and a member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses. Memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. May 13, 2023 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Waikoloa. She is survived by her sons, Moses Tavares of Ahualoa, HI., Marlon Tavares of Las Vegas, NV.; daughter, Melony (Alton Kaono) Tavares of Waimea; Mindy (Carey Guerpo of Kalopa, Madalyn (Shadrach) Tavares of Oahu and Makalapua (Shawn) Merit of Waimea; brothers, Richard (Leilani) Riveira and Michael Riveira, both of Oahu; numerous grandchildren; great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins. Bruce Fischer

Bruce Joseph Fischer, 87, of Waikoloa, Hawaii passed away on April 24, 2023 in Waikoloa. He was born on October 10, 1935, in New Jersey, he worked in sales for U.S. Leasing International. He is survived by spouse Barnette; son Michael J. (Carol) Fischer of St. Louis, Missouri; daughter Sherri (William ) Uriell of Dallas, Texas; sister Judy (Paul) Hildebrandt of Florida; nine grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.
