The Kona Aloha Singers (KAS), an adult contemporary and popular music chorus, announces its spring concert titled “#1 Chart Toppers” at King Kamehameha Kona Beach Resort 4 p.m. Sunday, May 7.

The chorus will perform songs by Bruno Mars, Madonna, Ed Sheeran, Prince and more with 30 singers and 12 musicians, plus John Keawe and Maka Gallinger as soloists and comedian Justine Smith as emcee.

The concert introduces new KAS artistic director for the season Shawna Bradfield, former president of the B.A.S.I.C. Gospel Fellowship Chorale in Laramie, Wyoming, and music director for Unity of Jacksonville in Florida. In 2018, Bradfield self-produced and published three songs using her maiden name, Shawna Hodges.

Binti Bailey, KAS assistant director, is a professional Big Island musician, vocalist and teacher. She has been involved with the Aloha Theatre as an actress and choreographer and performed professionally at venues all over Hawaii. Bailey grew up singing in her church and studied flute and piano throughout school.

The concert’s accompanist is lifelong island resident Dale Ross, who plays for Kona’s Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity Choir and has been active in Aloha Theater musical productions.

Tickets are available online at konaalohasingers.org. Advanced tickets are $20 for adults and $5 for keiki; while priced at $25 for adults and $7 for keiki at the door. The Kona Aloha Singers is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization and is currently seeking donations.
