Richard Green, Jr.
Richard Melvin Green, Jr., 65, of Ocean View, Hawaii died January 30, 2023 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in North Hollywood, California on October 17, 1957, he was the business owner of Hawaii Lifeguard Surf Instructors, a wind turbine technician, carpenter and a lineman. He was a certified lifeguard with the American Red Cross, Make a Wish Foundation donor and a U.S. Army veteran. Services will be held at a later date. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Green of Ocean View; daughters, Tifani Stegehuis of Kailua-Kona and Nani Green of Ocean View; son, Jacob Green and mother, Gai Getchuis, both of Kailua-Kona; brothers, Michael (Sheryl) Green of Oregon and Edward Koga of Kailua-Kona; sister, Jamie Green of California; 4 grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Woodrow Young
Woodrow Ah-kawai Kamohoali’i Young, 85 of Waimea, Hawaii died February 10, 2023 at his home in Kuhio Village. He was born on Sept 27, 1937 in Honolulu, Hawai’i. Woodrow descends from a prominent Hawaiian family and is a direct descendant of King Kamehameha through his maternal lineage. He is a descendant of the famous Mahi Clan, the Kohala chiefs and the Kauauanuiamahi dynasty. His father’s chiefly Kamohoalii family hail from Waipi’o Valley and Waimea. He was a US Army Vietnam Veteran and eventually joined the Army band that got him featured on the Ed Sullivan Show. He was a well-known falsetto singer and musician that enjoyed life, kanikapila, and was a kind gentle heart that loved everyone he met, a true kanaka of aloha.He is survived by wife Erlinda Fernandez Young, daughters Tricia Kainoa Hodson (Mike), Roberta Akim-Seu Banks and son Kenneth “Braddah” Akim-Seu. Brother Wardell Lani Young, sister in-law Beverly Ann Young, brother in-law Jacinth Deluz. Step Children Diane Yadao, and Kimberly Michele (Paul), Marilou Rudolph, Marissa Roman, and Leilani Cadaoas, Michael Cadaoas and Robert Cadaoas. 42 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and many great greats. Celebration of Life will be on Friday Night at 6 pm, Funeral services will be held on Saturday March 18, 2023, viewing from 9:00 to 11:30, service to follow at Kuhio Hale in Waimea, 64-756 Mamalahoa Hwy. with burial to follow. Aileen Bernice Calamayan, 77, of Keaau and Kailua-Kona, passed away on February 12, 2023 at Hilo Medical Center, born in Hilo; she was a self-employed papaya grower and a papaya packer for Amfac Puna Papaya Processing Company.
