County reports two new COVID-19 deaths

Hawaii County reported two new COVID-19 deaths this week, according to data from the state Department of Health.

Both deaths were of women over the age of 80 who were hospitalized and had preexisting conditions. The two new deaths bring Hawaii County’s overall death toll to 229 individuals since the start of the pandemic.

Queen’s North Hawaii Community Hospital also announced that its ongoing COVID-19 vaccination clinic will end on Feb. 22. Currently, QNHCH hosts a weekly vaccination clinic by appointment only on Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

After Feb. 22, patients will need to see their primary care provider to receive a COVID-19 vaccination.
