Wayne Hayashi
Wayne Kiyoshi Hayashi, 76, of Hilo died Dec. 29, 2022, at his residence. Born in Hilo, he was a retired physical education teacher at Keaau Middle School, Mountain View Elementary and Intermediate School and Farrington Middle School, former Bowling Coach at Waiakea High School, former basketball coach at Pahoa High School, member of Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin, Hilo AJA Bowling Club and Orchid Isle Nisei Bowling Club. Visitation 9:30-10:30 a.m. Jan. 23 at Dodo Mortuary chapel; memorial service at 10:30. Casual attire. Family requests no flowers or koden (monetary gifts). He is survived by wife, Elsie Hayashi of Hilo; children, Terri (Damon) Hayashi-Olaso of Hawaiian Shores, Jill Hayashi of Pearl City, Oahu, Len Miyazono of Hilo, Marisa (Christian) Rosehill of Hilo; brothers, Edwin (Terri) Takahata of Oahu, Stanford (Laura) Takahata of Oahu; sisters, Jane Tanaka of Oahu, Susan Watabayashi of Oahu; sister-in-law, Mildred Takahata of Las Vegas; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
