Alan Yoshio Suzuki, 70, of Captain Cook, died Nov. 15, 2022 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Hilo on Aug. 17, 1952, he was a highway supervisor for the County of Hawaii. He is survived by wife, Claire Suzuki and son, Cory (Napua Sadumiano) Suzuki, all of Captain Cook; sister, Jeanne Higa of Honolulu; six grandchildren; several aunts, uncles and cousins. Leasi Mana Jr.
Leasi Mana Jr., 63, of Hilo, died Dec. 4, 2022 at Hilo Medical Center. Born May 10, 1959 in Pago Pago, American Samoa, he was a retired mail processor assistant for the U.S. Postal Service and U.S. Army veteran. Visitation will be held from 8 to 10 a.m. Jan. 20 at Dodo Mortuary chapel, Hilo; funeral service at 10 a.m.; private burial to follow. Casual attire. He is survived by wife, Piadora Mana; son, Jason (Kristy) Shoji and Leasi (Shaneka) Maiava; daughter, Denise (Keikialoha P. Kekipi) Silva; hanai son, Ashley Silva; hanai daughters, Saeu Carter, Kahea Aipia and Narcissa (Richard) Belcher; mother, Fa’aninimo Mana; sisters, Lula (Ierome) Lavatai and Suluama Vanderhoef; brothers, Tofiga (Miriama) Mana and Teleai (Florence) Mana; 24 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; numerous aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Amy Emiko Kawamoto, 84, of Hilo, died Dec. 7, 2022 at Queen’s Medical Center on Oahu. Born May 20, 1938 in Hilo, she was a retired school teacher for Chiefess Kapiolani Elementary School. Private services were held. No koden (monetary donations). She is survived by, husband, James Kawamoto of Hilo; daughters, Leslie Kawamoto of Hilo and Stacie (Reed) Matsuo of Honolulu, Oahu; brothers, George Shigenaga of Hilo, Roy (Eunice) Shigenaga of Hilo and Dale (Nancy) Shigenaga of Las Vegas; sisters, Annelinda Mellon of California and Sandrea (Albert) Maldonado of Pepeekeo; four grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
