Joseph Kona

Joseph Anthony Kona died Dec. 30, 2022 in Queens Medical Center, Waimea. He was born June 18, 1951 in Waimea. He is survived by his Margaret (Agit) Kona; sons John (Jodie) Aguon-Kona, Joseph (Melissa) Aguon-Kona; daughters Tiffany (Richard) Ruiz, Talia (Ronson) Aguon-Kona; sisters JoAnna (Roy) Borja, Rose Loflan, Teresa Manadad, 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Sean Phelan

Sean Riehl Phelan, 52, of Volcano, died Jan. 1, 2023, at home. Born in Spokane, Wash., he was a master roofer and craftsman. Private service held. He is survived by wife Courtney Larson of Volcano; son, Galen (Kaikea Blakemore) Larson of Norfolk, Va.; daughter, Fiona (Noah Willis) Larson of Eugene, Ore.; mother, Judt Shrode of Tacoma, Wash.; sisters, Erin Phelan of Olympia, Wash. and Courtney O’Catherine of Tacoma, Wash.; an uncle and an aunt, nieces, nephews and cousins. Allan King Jr.

Allan Prescott King Jr., 75, of Pahoa, died Nov. 23, 2022. Born in San Francisco, he was a rancher and farmer. Private services. He is survived by sister, Lynda King; and niece, Serena St Cyr. Arrangements by Homelani Cremation Services.

Leonila Cabanting

Leonila delos Santos Cabanting, 94, Keaau, died Jan. 6, 2023, at her residence. Born Jan. 17, 1928, San Isidro, Santa Maria, Isabela, Philippines, she was a passionate gardener and farmer and a member of the Pahoa Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Friends may call Jan. 25 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel, visitation from 9 to 10:30 a.m.; funeral services at 10:30 a.m. Burial at Homelani Memorial Park (Lehua Section). She is survived by daughters, Glory Nemedez of Reno, Nevada, Nelie (Alfredo) Lazaro and Chastity (Justin) Young of Las Vegas, Nevada, Merlin Foreman of Keaau; sons, Alfredo (Vilma) Cabanting, Jr. of California, Michael (Maria Lourdes) Cabanting and Benido Cabanting of Kohala; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
