Free AARP tax preparation in Waimea
Waimea AARP Tax-Aide, in conjunction with IRS, will provide free tax preparation services for 2022 tax returns by appointment from 8:30 a.m to 3 p.m. on Fridays, from Jan. 27 to April 14, at the Waimea Community Center at 65-1260 Kawaihae Road in Waimea.
The in-person service is open to taxpayers of all ages, with priority given to seniors. A modified drop-off option will be available upon request. AARP membership is not required. Call (808) 885-4722 or (808) 388-6645 to make an appointment.

Whale entanglement response to be discussed
Maria Harvey with the Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary will be present “Large Whale Entanglement Response in Hawaii: Past, Present, and the Future” during a Jan. 24 Reef Talk event in Kailua-Kona.
The talk will run from 5 to 7 p.m. at Jack’s Diving Locker in Coconut Grove Marketplace. Reef Talks is a free monthly lecture series on marine and coastal topics, bringing experts from around the state to speak to the West Hawaii community. The series is presented by Malama Kai Foundation.
