Margaret Takako “Margie” Morita, 78, of Hilo, died Nov. 17, 2022, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, she was a beautician and owner of Hair Odyssey and was also a member of the Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin. Visitation 4-5 p.m. Jan. 6 at Dodo Mortuary chapel. Memorial service at 5 p.m. Casual attire; no flowers. She is survived by husband, Richard Morita of Hilo; sons, Jacob (Melody) Freeman and Todd (Cara) Kaneshiro of Hilo; eight grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Arrangements by Dodo Mortuary.

Tyler Negrana

Tyler Kaleo Negrana, 33, of Pahoa, died July 10, 2022m at the Hilo Medical Center. He was born in Hilo and was an entrepreneur. Celebration of life gathering noon to 5 p.m. Jan. 6 at the Maku’u Farmers Market, Pahoa. Alice Dela Cruz-Bailado

Alice Francisca Dela Cruz-Bailado, 66, of Paauilo, died Nov. 22, 2022, at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Ann Toshiko Shirai, 99, of Hilo, died Nov. 24, 2022, at a care home in Keaau. Born in Kobe, Japan, she was the retired owner of the former Kilauea Fish Market and a member of University Heights Kumiai. Private services were held. Family requests no monetary gifts or flowers. `She is survived by daughters, Kumiko (Lester) Tobara of Mililani, Oahu, Deborah Shirai of Wahiawa, Oahu; son, Robert (Gwen) Shirai of Hilo; sisters-in-law, Mildred Arai of Hilo, Shizue Asato of California; grandchildren, Kyle (Angeline) Tobara, Lori Tobara, Katelyn Shirai; numerous nieces and nephews. Thelma May Julianna Keolauhane Hepa “Auntie Julie” Akau, 78, of Hilo, died Dec. 17, 2022, at home. Born in Lihue, she was a retired customer service representative with Norwest Financial. Crispin “Smiley” Padaca Miguel, 87, of Keaau, died Dec. 23, 2022 at residence. Born on Laoag City, Ilocos Norte, Philippines; he was a retired heavy equipment operator for the former Puna Sugar Plantation Company in Keaau and also worked for Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Co. Clifford Iaukea Hokoana, 74, of Pahoa, died Nov. 17, 2022, at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born in Hilo, he was retired from Jas. W. Glover Ltd., a U.S. Army Vietnam War veteran and member of the Pahoa Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Friends may call at 9 a.m. Jan. 14 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for an 11 a.m. service.
