Joanne David

Joanne Stella-Marie David, 73, of Ocean View, died Aug. 8, 2022 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Kohala on Jan. 26, 1949, she was a sales person for Liberty House. Memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Jan. 28, 2023 at Kona Gospel Chapel in Kealakekua. She is survived by husband, Walter David of Ocean View; daughters, Tammy (Russell) Spencer of Ocean View and Ginny-Jo Minamishin of Kalaoa, Kona; sisters, Shirley Henderson of Louisiana and Ethel Yamamoto of Kapaau, Kohala; numerous grandchildren; several great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. John Kealoha

John David Kaualalena Kealoha, 69, of Puna died Nov. 18, 2022. Born May 9, 1953, in Pahoa, he was a fisherman, farmer, landscaper, served in the Army National Guard, worked with Kenneth Ranne Sr. digging cesspools and moving houses and was a construction worker. Visitation will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. on Dec. 13 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel, funeral service at 10 a.m.; procession through Pahoa town 12:30 p.m.; burial to follow at Kalapana Cemetery. He is survived by wife, Gail (Holland) Kealoha of Pahoa; daughters, Leola Kealoha of Laytonville, California, Leila White Kealoha (Jonathan) of Pahoa, Leina’ala Kealoha of Pahoa and Kaila Kealoha of Pahoa; hanai son, Terry Holland of Pahoa; sisters, Marilyn Martinez of Pahoa, Pearlani (Daryl) Kajiyama of Pahoa, Emily Naeole of Pahoa, Georgette (Michael Sr.) Kyser of Pahoa and Stormiwyn (David) Kaleo of Hilo; brother, Daniel Kealoha of Pahoa; sister-in-law, Cheryl (Mark Belcher) Holland of Pahoa; brother-in-law, Gary (Karin) Podratz of California; grandchildren, Benjamin Count, Makana Count, Thomas Kealoha, Joseph Kealoha, Waylon Kealoha, Raila Vierra, Robert Vierra, IV and Avery Holland; many cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Joy Pruitt

Joy B. Pruitt, 77, of Hilo, died Dec. 5, 2022. Born in Brooklyn, New York in 1945, she worked as a speech pathologist at Hilo Medical Center, Head Start, Easter Seals, DOE, Hawaii Care Choices (formerly Hospice of Hilo) where she was on the Board of Directors, and in private practice. She was an active member of state and national speech and hearing associations, as well as several local health related clubs.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Dec. 10 at Homelani Memorial Park, with a celebration of life to follow at the family residence. No koden; in lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the American Cancer Society of Hilo or Hawaii Care Choices. She is survived by husband, Larry Joseph of Hawaii; daughters, Felicia (Sean) Faden of California and Natasha (Matt) Bickmore of Colorado; and four grandchildren.
