Gerald “Jerry” Lloyd Moulton, 74, of Hilo died Nov. 9 at the Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born in Grand Forks, North Dakota, he was the owner of Moulton’s Custom Furniture, a carpenter and a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. No local services. Survived by sisters, Shirley Outson of Tacoma, Washington, Marilyn Sampson of Everett, Washington; numerous nieces and nephews. Arrangements by Dodo Mortuary.

Jay Haraga

Jay H. Haraga, 63, of Falls Church, Virginia and formerly of Hilo died Nov. 11, 2022, in Falls Church, Virginia. Born in Hilo, he was a water treatment engineer in Fairfax, Virginia. Services held in Vienna, Virginia. Family requests No flowers and no koden (monetary gifts). Survived by siblings, Curt (Paula) Haraga of Hilo and Gwen (Dale) Mason of Vienna, Virginia; one niece, two nephews, one grand-niece. Arrangements by Dodo Mortuary.

Juliette Rickard

Juliette Spencer Rickard, 95, of Pahoa, died Nov. 21, 2022, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, she was retired and worked at the former Puna Sugar Company and Miller and Lieb Water Company and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Pahoa Ward. Visitation 9-11 a.m. Dec. 1 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Funeral service at 11 a.m. Committal services to follow at the Hawaii Veterans Cemetery #2 pavilion. Casual attire. Francis Oue

Francis Itsuo Oue, 91, of Kailua-Kona, died Oct. 9, 2022 at home. Born in Kealakekua on Oct. 5, 1931, he was the president of K. Oue, LTD., a macadamia nut farmer, a member of the Kona Young Farmers Association, committee member of the Kona Community Federal Credit Union, member of Kanaueue Kumiai and a retired Lt. Colonel of the U.S. Army. Private services will be held at a later date. No koden or flowers. He is survived by his wife, Claire Oue Kailua-Kona; sons, David (Megan) Oue of Centerville, OH. and Michael Oue of Medford, MA.; daughter, Leeanne Oue of San Jose, CA.; sister, Patricia Oue of Kealakekua; 2 grandsons; several nieces and nephews. James Peterson

James Richard “Rich” Peterson, 80, of Papaikou, died Nov. 22, 2022 at his residence. Born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on April 15, 1942, he was a retired attorney, avid golfer, member of the Keaukaha Canoe Club and numerous golf clubs, and served on the boards of the Boys &Girls Club of the Big Island, Palace Theater and Malamalama Waldorf School. Daniel Rodrigues

Daniel “Bodinki” Rodrigues, 90, of Papaikou, died Nov. 22, 2022 at Hilo Medical Center. Born July 24, 1932, in Wailea, he was retired heavy equipment operator for the former Hilo Coast Processing Co. and he also was member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Papaikou and Kohala Puerto Rican Social Club. Friends may call Dec. 6 at Immcaulate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, visitation from 8 to 10 a.m.; celebration of Mass at 10 a.m. Casual attire Burial to follow at Homelani Memorial Park (Sec. 7). He is survived wife, Julia Rodrigues of Papaikou; children, Marleen Thomas of Connecticut, Nancy Menton of California, Roberta (Mark) Lammerier of Minnesota, Daniel Wayne Rodrigues of Honolulu and Phyllis (Dale) Sweeney of Washington; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Ronald Williams

Ronald Lee Williams, 79, of Keaau, died Nov. 9, 2022 at residence. Born on Nov. 11, 1942, in Indianapolis, Indiana, he was Vietnam veteran in the U.S. Marines Corps, retired assistant Post Master, and past Master Masonic Lodge (Bridgeport #162) Order of Eastern Star Member. Memorial service and celebration of life will be held at a later date. He is survived by wife, Diana Williams, married for 59 years of Keaau; sons, Dennis (Julie) Williams of Texas, Todd (Angie) Williams of Arizona and Curt Williams of Louisiana; daughter, Dawn (Darrel) Goo of Hilo; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; brother, Jack L. Julio Tomas Sr.

Julio Tomas Sr., 90, of Mountain View, died Nov. 6, 2022 at home. Born on Aug. 7, 1932, in Hilo, he was a retired Longshoreman/Stevedore for HT&T in Hilo, and U.S. Army veteran. No services. He is survived by wife, Juanita Tomas of Mountain View; sons, Julio Tomas Jr. and Jeffrey Tomas of Mountain View; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; brother, Jaime (Mary) Tomas of Hilo; sisters, Helen Latore and Rose Maikui of Honolulu; sisters in-law, Linda Tomas of Honolulu, Marina Tomas and Bernadette Tomas of Hilo; numerous nieces, nieces and cousins. Milagrosa Conol

Milagrosa Quero Conol, 73, of Hilo, died Nov. 8, 2022 at Hawaii Care Choices. Born Jan. 19, 1949, Olaa; she retired from the state Judiciary. Private services held. She is survived by husband, Carl Conol of Hilo; son, Jeremy (Lorna) Conol of Hilo; daughter, Jessica Conol of Hilo; three grandchildren, Jaeleyne (Dominic) Conol, Jesiah Conol and JJ Conol; brothers, Reuben Quero and Eldon Quero of Keaau; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Mina Switzer

Mina Keano Switzer, 94, of Kapaau, died Nov. 9, 2022 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Kokoiki, on Sept. 23, 1928, she was a retired office manager for the State of Hawaii, and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Visitation will be held at 9 a.m. Dec. 3 at the LDS Chapel in Kohala; service will begin at 10 a.m. She is survived by son, Kevin Switzer of Hawi; 5 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren. Anthony Akiona

Anthony Akiona, 83, of Kealakekua, died Sept. 21, 2022 at Kona Community Hospital. Born July 7, 1939, he was a retired cook. He is survived by sons, Michael (Shorene) Akiona and Russell (Deborah) Akiona, all of Ocean View and Terry Akiona of Farmersville, CA.; daughters, Redona Gilbert of Missouri, Teresa (Danny) Gonzales of Farmersville, GA.; brother, Fred Sonoria of Hilo and Rogelio (Teri) Billaber of AZ.; 17 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Warren Matsumoto

Warren Yoshiharu Matsumoto, 79, of Kailua-Kona, died on Nov. 16, 2022 at his residence. Born in North Kona on Nov. 20, 1942, he was a self-employed heavy equipment operator and a cattle rancher, and member of Ka Hoku Ao Malamalama Church. Visitation will be held at 9:30 a.m. at the Matsumoto Ranch at 73-4290 Mamalahoa Hwy., Kailua-Kona; celebration of life service will begin at 10:30 a.m. The family requests casual attire. He is survived by his companion, Kate Puakela of Kailua-Kona; son, Dewey (Sabrina) Matsumoto of Kailua-Kona; daughters, Penny (Robert) Matsumoto of Waimea, HI., Korena (Michael) Matsumoto-Pratt of Las Vegas, and Melissa Matsumoto of Honolulu; brother, James Matsumoto and sister, Eileen Matsumoto, both of Kailua-Kona; six grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
