Derek Morishita, 70, of Hilo, died Nov. 4, 2022, at Kaiser Moanalua Medical Center in Honolulu. Born in Hilo, he was a former sales consultant for Big Island Toyota and various other dealerships. Friends may call at 4 p.m. Nov. 22 at New Hope Hilo, 840 Kupulau Road, for a 5 p.m. celebration of life. Family requests casual attire be worn. He is survived by wife, Shani Higa-Morishita of Hilo; children, Amy (Jonn) Malson, Gerrie Morishita (Blayne Matsui) and Jamie Morishita of Hilo; brother, Robin (Colleen) Morishita of California; mother-in-law, Mildred Higa of Hilo; sisters-in-law, Sheri Higa of Hilo, Deann Higa-Rivera (Danny Rivera) of Las Vegas; and two grandsons. Carlyn Werner
Carlyn Scott Werner, 63, of Mountain View, died Sept. 30, 2022. Born in Hilo on April 10, 1959 and was employed by Acclaim Radiology Management as a claims research/payments representative. Visitation will be held at Dodo Mortuary Chapel in Hilo on Nov. 25 from 4 to 5 p.m.; celebration of life service will begin at 5 p.m. Casual attire is requested. Graveside committal service and burial of her cremated remains will take place at Homelani Memorial Park in Hilo on Nov. 26 at 10 a.m. She is survived by husband, Rainer Werner of Mountain View; daughters, Aisha (Shane) Kinoshita of Hilo, Ashley (Cade) Uyetake of Hilo and A’ja (Daeus) Bencomo of Mountain View; brothers, Glenn (Kathy) Baybayan of Hilo, Leonard (Tonya) Baybayan of Keaau and Derek (Katherine) Baybayan of Kona; sister, Carmen Baybayan, M.D. of Oahu; five granddaughters; two nieces; and numerous uncles, aunts and cousins. Robert “Rob” Blair Henry, 69, of Pahoa, died Nov. 6, 2022, at Hilo Medical Center. Born June 2, 1953, in Visalia, Calif., he was a retired plumber and mason and U.S. Marine Corps Vietnam War veteran. He is survived by wife, Emily Bartlett-Henry of Pahoa; children, Jody Lowblad of Upper Lake, Calif., Rachael Henry of Lakeport, Calif., Mary Shields of Carson City, Nev., Desiree Bartlett of Phoenix, Ariz.; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Edna Kitagawachi
Edna Tamae Kitagawachi, 88, of Captain Cook, died Oct. 9, 2022 at her residence. Born in Kumamoto Ken, Japan on Jan. 1, 1934, she was a pantry worker at the former Kona Lagoon and Keauhou Beach hotels, long-time coffee farmer in Honaunau, and a member of Kona Hongwanji Buddhist Temple. Private services will be held at a later date. She is survived by grandson, Michael Kitagawachi of Captain Cook and sister, Mituse Toshiba of Kyushu, Japan. Arrangements by Dodo Mortuary.

Darryl Grace Sr.
Darryl Kalani Grace Sr., 61, of Kealakekua, died Sept. 30, 2022 at his residence. Born Aug. 10, 1961 in Kealakekua, he was co-owner of Makanamaikalani Construction Company, supervisor for EM Rivera &Sons, Inc., KKCC (Keauhou Kona Construction Company), KKRC (Keauhou Kona Resort Company); heavy equipment operator for the Hawaii County Fire Break; worked at Mac Farms and KTA Keauhou; a member of Kahikolu Congregational Church; defensive line coach for Konawaena High School Football, head coach and assistant coach for Konawaena High School Girls Soccer, coach for AYSO Soccer and HiPAL Prime Time Basketball, and an avid fisherman and hunter. Visitation will be held at 9 a.m. Nov. 25 at Old Airport Makae’o Pavilion; service will begin at 11 a.m. followed by luncheon and entertainment. The family requests comfortable attire and flowers are welcome. He is survived by wife, Leona Grace of Kealakekua; sons, Darryl (Rikki) Grace Jr. and Travis (Nia) Grace, all of Kailua-Kona; daughters, Nell Grace of Kealakekua and Lilinoi (Steve) Grace of Kailua-Kona; six grandchildren; hanai children, Hano-Boy Grace of Captain Cook, Deisha Grace of Opihihale, Iris Gaspar of Kealakekua, Crystal Kawaauhau-Branco of Captain Cook and Errol Kawaauhau of Utah; brothers, Hano Grace of Captain Cook, Gordon (Henrilyn) Grace of Opihihale, Bryan (Renee) Grace of Capt.
