Chuck Kaleialoha Loo, 78, of Honokaa, died Oct. 14, 2022, at home. Born in Kukuihaele, he was an irrigation supervisor with the Deptartment of Land and Natural Resources and was a member of the Honokaa Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Visitation 9-11 a.m. Nov. 19 at the Honokaa Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Memorial service at 11 a.m. Casual attire, no flowers. He is survived by wife, Geraldine Loo of Honokaa; daughters, Sharrie (Biggy) Quirit, Annette Loo and Stacie (Roger) Kaiwi-Machen of Kona; brothers, Kelly (Norma) Loo and Ainslie (Anita) Loo of Kukuihaele; sisters, Clara (Jerry) Alip of Utah, Violet Loo and Barbara Wright of Kamuela; sisters-in-law, Elaine Loo, Abigail Loo and Adele Loo of Kamuela, Eva Loo of Lehi, Utah and Phoebe Loo of St. George, Utah; brother-in-law, Henry Ah Leong of Oahu; three grandchildren; one great-grandson; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Jacqueline “Jackie” Barbara Pavao, 70, of Pepeekeo, died Oct. 13, 2022, at home. Born in Hilo, she was a clerical administrator with Allied Machinery. Lucy Kuikahi
Lucy Kaelikula “Kula” Kuikahi, 92, of Keaukaha, died Oct. 16, 2022 at home. Born July 2, 1930 in Hilo, she retired as kupuna of Kalanianaole Elementary School, and a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Keaukaha Ward. Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Nov. 18 at the Hilo Stake Center; funeral service at 11:30 a.m.; burial to follow at Homelani Memorial Park, Ilima Section. A celebration of life luncheon to follow from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Hilo Stake Center. Casual attire. Frances Cecelia Torngren, 85, of Hilo, died Oct. 18, 2022 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Keaukaha, she retired from Hawaii Visitors Bureau and a member of Haili Congregational Church and Hawaii Travel Women’s Club. Visitation on Nov. 19 at Haili Congregational Church in Hilo from 9 to 11 a.m. with celebration of life service to follow. Casual attire. Wayne De Motta
Wayne Gilbert De Motta, 65, of Hilo, died Sept. 7, 2020, at Hilo Medical Center. He was a retired Hawaii County paramedic and formerly worked at Hilo Coast Processing Co., and a member of the Keaukaha Canoe Club, Hawaii Firefighters Association, Black Belt from Honomu Judo Club, fisherman and a hunter. Born in Beaumont, Texas, was a retired CW3 US Army Pilot and a veteran of the Vietnam War, member of PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors), former owner of Rainbow Divers Inc. on Oahu and Manta Ray Dives of Hawaii in Kona.
