Fujiko Iwamoto

Fujiko “Grace” Iwamoto, 98, of Hilo, died Oct. 4, 2022, at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Pepeekeo, she was a homemaker and member of Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin, Buddhist Women’s Association, Nohea Kumiai and Shishu Ladies Japanese Embroidery Club. Private services were held. Family requests no monetary gifts or flowers. She is survived by daughters, Karen (Wayne) Miyaji of Hilo, Sheryl (Dean) Anzai of Honolulu; sisters, Mildred Miura of Honolulu, Maile Taniguchi of California; sisters-in-law, Masako Tsukimura of California, Rose Shimizu of Honolulu; two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. James Bragalone

James Joseph Bragalone died Sept. 28, 2022, in Nashville, Tennessee. He was born Feb. 5 1968 in Honolulu and owned and operated Med Trans Hawaii.

He is survived by mother, Stephanie Bragalone; sons, Tanner Bragalone, Nickolas Browder Bragalone; step daughters Lea Bradley, and Lana Bradley; brother Anthony Bragalone; and sister-in-law Shari Bragalone.

Mary Baker

Mary Louise Baker, 82, of Keaau, died Oct. 27, 2022, at home. Born in Grand Island, Neb., she was a co-owner of a recreational vehicle sales company and was also a member of Puna Covenant Church and the Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. She is survived by husband, Kevin Baker of Keaau; son, Kevin (Kristi) Baker Jr. of Bainbridge Island, Wash.; daughter, Lisa (David) Johnson of Keaau; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Kaiakea Nacnac-Kaleiopu

Baby Boy Kaiakea Kahakuohuanuikala’ila’i Nacnac-Kaleiopu, 4 months old, died Oct. 23, 2022, at North Hawaii Community Hospital. He was born June 23, 2022, in Hilo. A memorial service will be held on Nov. 6 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Honokaa Union Hall (Jack Wayne Hall), 45-3720 Honokaa-Waipio Road, Honokaa.He is survived by parents, Malik-Mija Thomas-Nacnac and John Kaleiopu, Jr. of Honokaa; sister, Kamoani Nacnac-Kaleiopu of Honokaa; grandparents, Lorinell Nacnac and Pernell Thomas of Honokaa, John Kaleiopu, Sr. and Michelle Villaro of Makaha, Hawaii; great-grandmother, Etta Nacnac of Honokaa; great-grandpa, Jacob Thomas Sr. of Ewa Beach; great-grandmother, Veroncia (Roland) Suda of Makaha; great-grandpa, Benjamin Villaro of Pearl City; and numerous cousins, aunts and uncles. Selma Gladden

Selma “Beyonce” Moana Gladden, 66, of South Kona, died Oct. 29, 2022, at Kona Community Hospital. Born April 29, 1956, in Kealakekua, she was retired from Kona Community Hospital. Celebration of life at a later date. She is survived by sons, Kaina (Kelsi) Gladden, Kekai (Jamie) Gladden; hanai son, Rickey Bailey; mother, Stella Grace; siblings, Samuel (Rosemary) Grace, Shirlene (Albert) Cantiberos, Shannon (Iwa) Grace; four grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Hayako Nishikawa

Hayako Nishikawa, 101, of Hilo, died Sept. 15, 2022, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Pahoa, she was a retired seamstress with the former Kamehameha Garments and was also a member of Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin. Private services held. No flowers or koden (monetary donations). She is survived by son, Steven (Eleanor) Nishikawa of Keaau; daughter, Susan (Phillip) Iranon of Hilo and Lucia (Lindsey Baird) Nishikawa of Australia; caregiver, Sydnie Iranon of Hilo; six granchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. Barbara Richard

Barbara A. Richard, 88, of Ocean View, died Oct. 29, 2022 at her residence. Born in Webber Falls, Oklahoma on Nov. 6, 1933, she was an activity director for a senior living nursing home. She is survived by daughters, Theresa (David) Sederholm of California, Michelle (Roger) Jacobson and Colette (James) Martin, all of Ocean View; sons, Jack (Jan) Richard of Texas and Richard (Chris) Richard of Washington 7 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren. Richard Komo

Richard Riuso Komo, 94, of Wailuku and formerly of Kona, died Oct. 18, 2022 at his residence. Born in Keopu, he was a retired Maui 2nd Circuit Court Judge. Memorial Service to be held Dec. 10 at 11 a.m. at Iao United Church of Christ, Wailuku. Visitation 9:30-10:45 am. Casual attire. He is survived by companion Blanche Ito; daughters, Jacqueline (Gary) Murai; Susan (Robert) Kim; and Karen Cooper; son Lawrence Komo; brother David “Masa” Komo; sister Emiko Kaneko; sister-in-law Elaine Komo; cousin Kenneth Komo; 11 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
