Manuel Jadulang

Manuel Jadulang, 74, of Kapaau, died Sept. 12, 2022 at Avalon Care Center, Honolulu. Born June 12, 1948 in Kohala, he was a U.S. Army Vietnam War veteran who performed duties as a diesel mechanic, a former steward for Hilton Waikoloa Village and a member of Hawi Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Visitation will be held from 8 to 9:45 a.m. Oct. 22 at the Hawi Sacred Heart Catholic Church; celebration of Mass at 10 a.m.; burial to follow at Hawi County Cemetery. Casual attire and family requests no flowers.

He is survived by, sons, Manuel (Loida Lalata) Jadulang of Waimea and Melvin (Randall) Jadulang of Baltimore, Maryland; sisters, Salvacion Castillo of Kapaau and Loretta Yamashita of Waimea; grandchildren, Brayden, Brent, and Brianna Jadulang all of Waimea; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Gail Belaski

Gail Amelita Belaski, 66, of Hilo; died Sept. 7, 2022 at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. She was born on May 20, 1956 in Hilo.

Visitation continues from 9 to 10 a.m. on Oct. 21 at Dodo Motuary chapel; funeral service at 10 a.m.; cremation to follow. Casual attire and lei welcomed.

She is survived by brothers, Daniel (Vivian) Ayala of Hilo and David (Marlene Kokovich) Belaski of Hilo; sister, Bobbie (Frank) Figueroa of Hilo; an uncle; and numerous aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Leonard Crivello

Leonard “Leo” Cabral Crivello, 93, of Papaikou, died Oct. 10, 2022 at Hilo Medical Center. Born July 2, 1929 in Onomea, he was a retired truck driver/heavy equipment operator for Hilo Coast Processing Co., a truck driver for the former Mauna Kea Sugar Co., a former clerk for Papaikou Plantation Store and a member the Hawaii Army National Guard and Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Papaikou.

Visitation will be held from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Oct. 25 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Papaikou; funeral Mass at 10 a.m.; burial to follow at Mauna Kea Memorial Park, Papaikou. Casual attire.

He is survived by, son, Patrick (Renee) Crivello of Papaikou; daughter, Ann (David) Pacyao of Hilo; brother, Milton Crivello of Hilo; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Jasmine Nakanelua-Anderson

Jasmine Puahala Nakanelua-Anderson, 68 of Waipi’o Valley, died Sept. 28, 2022 at Hilo Medical Center.

Services will be held on Oct. 22 at Ballard Family Mortuary. Visitation at 9 a.m.; services at 10. Burial to follow at Kukuihaele Cemetery in Honokaa-Waipio Rd.

She is survived by her companion, Odie Carver Jr. of Hilo; sons Charles Anderson III of Waipunalei, Anuhea (Jammielee) DeMello of Ahualoa; daughter Jeanelle (Suwaiter) Poch of California; brother Garrison Nakanelua of San Diego; sisters Pamela (Marcelo) Nakanelua-Castillo of Waimea, Charmaineellen (Len) Nakanelua-Hiraoka of Kukuihaele; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Glenn Vieira

Glenn B. Vieira, 69, of Hilo died Oct. 2, 2022, at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Hospice Facility. Born in Hilo, he was the owner of Cabinets by Glenn, carpentry supervisor at Kulani Correctional Facility, carpentry instructor at Hawaii Community College, member of the Ancient Order of Foresters Court Mauna Kea #8854 and a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Bourne Rangers.

Visitation will take place from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Oct. 24 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel; memorial service at 10:30. Burial to follow at the East Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Casual attire.

He is survived by wife, Joanne Vieira of Hilo; daughters, Michelle (Casey) Harris of Kahului, Maui, Carrisa (Bryan) Fujimoto of Lihue, Kauai; siblings, Allen (Joe) Vieira of Seattle, Jennifer (Wesley) Fujimoto of Oahu, Kenneth (Billie) Vieira of Hilo, Annette (Brian) Brensinger of Pennsylvania; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Yvonne Rodrigues DeMello

Yvonne Beverly Puanani Rodrigues DeMello of Hilo died Sept. 12, 2022, at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Center. Born in Hilo, she worked at an egg farm, a flower nursery, was a secretary, a business owner, a greeter at Kona International Airport and Mauna Lani resort and drove taxi.

Visitation 8:30-9:30 a.m. Oct. 24 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Mass at 9:30 a.m. Casual attire; no flowers.

She is survived by sons, Anthony (Roxane) Rodrigues Jr. of Hilo and Eric Rodrigues of Keaau; daughters Tami (Barry) Johnson of Bullhead City, Ariz., Winnie (John) Salazar of Surprise, Ariz.; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and nieces.

Clarence Martins

Clarence Louis Martins, 84, of Honokaa, died Sept. 2, 2022. Born Dec. 19, 1938, in Haina, he was a hairstylist.

He is survived by a multitude of nieces, nephews and their children.

A mass at Our Lady of Lourdes in Honokaa will be held on Oct. 28 at 10 a.m. followed by a burial service at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Cemetery in Honokaa.

Theresa Mathews

Theresa Viola Mathews, 71, of Hilo, died Oct. 2, 2022, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, she was a foster grandparent with the state Department of Education at Kalanianaole and Haaheo Schools.

Visitation 4 to 6 p.m. Oct. 23 at Dodo Mortuary chapel. Funeral service at 6 p.m. Cremation will follow. Celebration of Life ceremony also at noon Oct. 30 at Papaikou Park. Casual attire; no flowers.

She is survived by son, Joelan Mathews of Papaikou; daughters, Lanalyn (Joey) Abadilla, Reyna (Larry Pavao) Mathews and Sheena (Shaun Nelson) Mathews, all of Papaikou; brother, Michael (Charlotte) Paiva of Honolulu; 16 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Lionel Medeiros Jr

Lionel Medeiros Jr., 68, of Pahoa died Oct. 9, 2022, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was a sugar cane truck driver for the former Hilo Coast Processing Company and a flagman for the State of Hawaii Highways Division.

Visitation from 5 to 6 p.m. Oct. 25 at Dodo Mortuary chapel; prayer service at 6. Cremation to follow. Casual attire. Family requests no flowers.

He is survived by wife, Maria Medeiros of Pahoa; son, Conrad (Mary) Medeiros of Mountain View; siblings, Michael (Josephine) Medeiros of Hilo, Clara Kahualii of Kurtistown, Janice (Hale, Sr.) Pekelo of Mountain View; sister-in-law, Bernadette Lance of Toronto-Ontario, Canada; five grandchildren; one great-grandson; two aunts; and numerous nieces, nephews.

Howard Alameda

Howard Earl Alameda, 63, of Hilo, died Oct. 2, 2022 at his residence. Born May 5, 1959, in Honolulu, he was an owner and operator for Gravity Flow Plumbing and a plumber for the former Alameda Plumbing,and the Golden Gloves / AAU Champion of the Waiakea Boxing Club.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. on Oct. 24 at Dodo Mortuary chapel, Hilo; celebration of life at 6 p.m. Casual attire.

He is survived by, father, Samuel (Diane) Alameda Sr.; daughters, Farrah (Canaan) Boggs, Ku’ualoha Alameda and Ku’ulei Alameda; brothers, Samuel Alameda Jr. and Christian (Starlene) Alameda; sisters, Charmaine (Karl) Alameda and Chantee (Glenn, Jr.) Shiroma; four grandchildren; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Leopoldo Tagabi

Leopoldo Calaro Tagabi, 70, of Pahoa, died Sept. 26, 2022 at his residence. Born March 4, 1952, in Sarrat, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, he worked for a flowers and plants nursery in Puna, and was a member of the Pahoa Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Freinds may call Oct. 29 at Pahoa Sacred Heart Catholic Church, visitation from 9 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. (Eulogy); celebration of Mass at 10:30 a.m. Burial to follow at the church cemetery.
