Mario Fernandez

Mario James Fernandez, 83, of Hilo, died Oct. 11, 2022 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in 1939 in Honoka’a, he was a retired welder and worked at Hilo Iron Works, Hilo Coast, and Gay Robinson.

A celebration of life will be held at New Hope Hilo on Oct. 22 with a visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. and a service from 11 a.m to noon; fellowship to follow.

He is survived by wife, Evelyn Fernandez; daughters, Selina (Ron) Masters of Kailua-Kona, Colette Kepilino of Las Vegas, and Lorena (Allen) Okano of Las Vegas; son Brendon Fernandez of Hilo; brothers, Vincent (Monique) Fernandez of Georgia and Mike (Alana) Fernandez of Honoka’a; sister, Carmalita (Jason) Carvalho of Kohala; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Anjuli Salboro

Anjuli Kapuaokalani Salboro, 38, of Ookala died Sept. 23, 2022, at Queen’s Medical Center on Oahu. Born in Hilo, she was a homemaker.

Visitation from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Oct. 23 at Dodo Mortuary chapel; a celebration of her life will begin at 10:30. Casual attire.

She is survived by husband, Gordon Salboro of Ookala; daughter, Paris Salboro of Ookala; mother, Debra Afonso of Mountain View; siblings, Brandi (Nalu) Barrett of Mountain View, Andre (Amelyn) Afonso III of Kurtistown; maternal grandmother, Linda Luna of Hilo; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Rita Basque

Rita Moana Basque, 87, of Keaau, died Oct. 3, 2022 at her residence. Born Oct. 12, 1934, in Honolulu, she was a nurse aid and member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Keaau Ward.

Greta Balicoco

Greta Bumanglag Balicoco, 61, of Pahoa, died Sept. 10, 2022 in Arizona. Born June 27, 1961, in Paoay, Philippines, she formerly worked at Akatsuka Orchid Gardens in Volcano, and was a member of the Iglesia Ni Cristo Church of Christ in Keaau.

Friends may call on Oct. 28 at Dodo Mortuary chapel, visitation from 9 to 10:30 a.m.; funeral services at 10:30 a.m. Burial to follow at Homelani Memorial Park (Ilima Section) at 11:30 a.m.

She is survived by husband, Juanito Balicoco of Pahoa; children, Julius Balicoco, Juvani Balicoco and Gretchen Balicoco of Arizona, Guinevere (Khalil) Luis of Honolulu; two grandchildren; father, Pepito Bumanglag of Guam; mother, Agripina Bumanglag of Philippines; brothers and sisters, Juliet (Richard) Batallones. Carol Debrum

Carol Jini Debrum, 43, of Big Island, died Oct. 1, 2022 on Oahu. Born Nov. 28, 1978, in the Marshall Island; she was a sales associate for Wal Mart and a member of the Hamakua Assembly of God Church in Pepeekeo.

Friends may call on Oct. 21 at Hamakua Assembly of God Church in Pepeekeo; services at 4 p.m. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Oct. 22 at Alae Cemetery (New Section).

She is survived by spouse, Kremlen Debrum of Big Island; children, Ersa Debrum, Elizabeth Debrum, Kremlen Debrum Jr. and Destiny Debrum of Big Island; father, Abner Enne of Big Island; siblings, Eldon (Wilma) Enne and Selina (Geroge) Capelle and Lizaeth (Nang) Jack of Mashall Island, Enila (Norton Jack) Enos of Alabama, Elner (Eklaine) Enne of Arizona, Edna Enne and Elsie (Carl Debrum) Enne of Big Island.
