Rodney Anjo
Rodney Charles Anjo, 76, of Hilo, died July 21, 2022 in Hilo at Hilo Medical Center. He was born in Honolulu.
A celebration of life will be held at 10 a.m. Oct. 9 near the Kakaako Waterfront Park.
He is survived by son, Randy Anjo of Honolulu; daughters, Cheray Anjo of Honolulu and Candace Kupau of Las Vegas; four grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.

Miriam Kahapea
Miriam Haaeoholani McCabe Kahapea, 100, of Hilo, died July 3, 2022, in Hilo. Born in Heeia, Oahu, she was a retired secretary for Kamehameha Schools Bishop Estate and member of the Alu Like Kupuna Program, Koolaupoko Club, and St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Kaneohe, Oahu.
Services will be at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Kaneohe, Oahu on Oct. 8, viewing at 10 a.m, services with Mass at 11:30 a.m. Burial to follow at Hawaiian Memorial Park at 1 p.m.
She is survived by sons, Wendell (Barbara) Kahapea and Warren Kahapea, all of Honolulu, and Wallace Kahapea of Hilo; daughters, Wanda Zablan Kahapea of Honolulu, and Christina Kahapea of Hilo; brother Louis McCabe of San Antonio, Texas; daughter-in-law Patricia Kahapea of Honolulu; 16 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Raymond Leo Salley
Raymond Leo Salley, 88, of Kalahiki, died Sept. 24, 2022 at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born Oct. 28, 1933, in Attleboro, Massachusetts, he was the owner of Kona Sporting and Marine Goods Store in Kainaliu, a koa logger and a U.S. Marine Corps veteran.
Services will be held at a later date.
He is survived by wife, Cynthia Salley of Kalahiki; daughters, Cynda (Keith) Unger of Kalahiki and Holly (Craig) Cindell of Los Angeles; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Marilyn O’Brien and Lois Skinner, both of Cotuit, Massachusetts; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Michael May
Michael Leonard May, 41, of Pahoa, died Sept. 4, 2022 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Yakima, Washington, he was a tattoo artist.
Celebrations of life will be held on Oct. 8 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Kapiolani Park in Waikiki and on Oct. 23 in Walla Walla, Washington.
He is survived by spouse, Keiko May of Hilo; mother, Nancy Kurts of Caldwell, Idaho; and Nicolette Hoover of Caldwell, Idaho.

Bertha Young
Bertha Kuualoha Young, 73, of Waiohinu, died Sept. 29, 2022 at Hilo Medical Center. Born April 15, 1949, in Ka‘u, she was a factory worker for Mac Farms of Hawaii, Naalehu School tutor, Lily’s at Naalehu Park, Lori Lei Shirikawa Halau, Volcanoes Golf Course, homemaker and a bookkeeper for Wally Young’s Repair in Ka‘u.
Friends may call Oct. 15 at Waiohinu Protestant Church in Naalehu, visitation from 9 to 10 a.m.; Funeral services at 10 a.m. Cremation to follow at Dodo Mortuary Crematory.
She is survived by husband, Wallace Young Sr. of Waiohinu; sons, Wallace Jr. (Tammy) Young of Hilo, William (Kelly) Young and Eric (Lory) Young of California, Bradly (Kristy) Young and Kaniala (Christen) Young of Ka‘u, and Henry Young of Honolulu; daughter, Alliesen Young of Ka‘u; 29 grandchildren; four-great-grandchildren; mother, Esther Beck of Kaupo, Maui; brother, Eugene (Lena) Beck Sr. of Kona; sisters, Eleanor (Kalei) Beck snd Uilani Beck of Kaupo, Maui, Yvonne (Kahele) Ke of Ka‘u/ Alice (Lani) Beck of Kona, and Kailana Beck of Kahalui, Maui; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews.
