Hawaii Island police have charged 41-year-old Matthew B. Cummings of Captain Cook a variety of drug offenses following the execution of search warrants at Cummings’s South Kona property.

Cummings faces two counts first-degree promoting a dangerous drug and one count each third-degree promoting a dangerous drug, second-degree promotion of a detrimental drug, first-degree forgery, and drug paraphernalia.

The charges against Cummings stem from multiple search warrants served Sept. 28 at the property located in the 84-1100 block of Bruner Road by investigators from the Area II Vice and Criminal Investigation Sections.

During the search, investigators recovered nearly 51 grams of methamphetamine, 140 grams of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and equipment related to the production of counterfeit federal reserve notes along with several counterfeit $100 bills. Investigators have initiated a joint investigation with the U.S. Secret Service in response to the recovered counterfeit currency.

Cummings posted bail of $27,525, and is set to appear in Kona District Court Oct. 27.
