Glenn Toyama

Glenn Yutaka Toyama, 77, of Mountain View, died Aug. 20, 2022, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Ola’a, he was the owner of Hawaii Flower Garden, a U.S. Army Vietnam era veteran and member of Hui Okinawa.

Private services held. Family request no flowers.

He is survived by wife, Shou Hong Toyama of Mountain View; daughter, Crystal Toyama of Mountain View; brothers, Francis (Hazel) Toyama of Hilo, Ivan (Fay) Toyama of Mililani, Oahu; sisters, Charlotte (Thin) Ng of Cambridge, Mass., Eleanor (Charles) Arakaki of Washington state; sister-in-law, Verna Toyama of Aina Haina, Oahu; an uncle; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Brett Kaneshiro

Brett Masashi Kaneshiro, 61, of Hakalau died June 15, 2022, at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Hospice Facility. Born in Honolulu, he was a landscaper and former member of the Hawaii Jaycees.

Visitation from 4 to 5 p.m. Sept. 13 at Dodo Mortuary chapel; memorial service at 5. Casual attire.

He is survived by wife, Lisa Kaneshiro of Hakalau; his parents; a sister and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Ashley Tsuji

Ashley Allen Tsuji, 45, of Hilo died Aug. 17, 2022, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was a marketing manager for Hawaii Life, a dance fitness instructor at various locations in Hilo, formerly employed at the Building Industries Association of Hawaii, D.R. Horton and HMSA, volunteered for several non-profit organizations including the American Cancer Society and Up With People.

Private services. The family requests no flowers and no koden (monetary gifts).

He is survived by mother, Dorothy Chang of Hilo; brothers, Ryan Tsuji of Honolulu, Derek (Carol) Chang of Washington, and Garrett (Stacy) Chang of Honolulu; sisters, Tracy (Chris) Mercado and Ramona (Alvin) Kahawaii, all of Honolulu; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Howard Hutchinson

Howard Lee Hutchinson, 82, of Hilo, died Aug. 13, 2022 in Hilo. Born July 3, 1940 in Honolulu, he was an avid lawai‘a and painter.

His ashes will be spread Oct. 13 in Kaneohe, Oahu. Contact the family at (808) 339-2846 for more information.

He is survived by children, Kamalani Hutchinson and Leialoha Hutchinson, granddaughter Kainani, daughter-in-law Jill Asuncion, and brother William.

Irene Ahuna

Irene Josephine Ahuna, 82, of Hookena, died Aug. 24, 2022 at her residence. She was born Jan. 5, 1940, in Honolulu.

She is survived by husband, Augustine Ahuna of Hookena; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jane McKinney

Jane Loehr McKinney, 86, of Kailua-Kona, died Aug. 29, 2022 at Marieta’s Care Home. Born Aug. 29, 1936, in Honolulu, she was a teacher at public schools in California and Ohio, and at Ka‘u High School and Kealakehe Intermediate School.

Services will be held at a later date.

She is survived by husband, Steven McKinney of Kailua-Kona; sons, Steven McKinney of Portland, OR. and Carl McKinney of Ahualoa; daughter, Susan Luoma of Portland, OR.; brother, William (Lori) Loehr of Beavercreek, OR.; sister, Sally (Chuck) DeTroye of Madison, WI.; and four grandchildren.

Kevin Christensen

Kevin Edward Christensen, 70, of Kurtistown, passed away on Friday, September 2, 2022 at residence, born on January 31, 1952, in Brooklyn, New York Kevin was a Carpenter and worked for various Private Carpentry Services. He also was an accomplished Metalsmith. Kevin left his legacy at many Landmark Buildings including West Point, Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum and many other Historical sites. While in Hawaii, Kevin worked at Kona Hospital. He is survived by wife, Paula Kessler-Christensen of Kurtistown; daughter, Cathy of New York; step-daughter, Kim Kessler of Honolulu; brothers, Larry Christensen of Iowa, Robert Wayne Christensen of Connecticut and Michael Christensen of New York.

Belinda Anderson

Belinda Lee Anderson, 63, of Captain Cook, Hawaii, died August 3, 2022 at her residence. Born in New York on June 12, 1959, she was the owner and operator of Keoki’s Fish and Chips Restaurant.

She is survived by her daughters, Kalina (Keoni) Llanes of Holualoa and Marika (Damien Ascino) Anderson of Captain Cook; son, Casey Catton of Captain Cook; sister, Brenda (Butch) Burdin of Bath, NY., Jody (Rick) Adams of Ocean View; brother, David (Vicky) Dockstader of Bath, NY.; five granddaughters; one grandson.

Francis Triggs

Francis Joseph Triggs, 89, of Mauna Lani Resort, died July 21, 2022, at his residence. Born May 2, 1933, in New London, Connecticut, ​he was a medical doctor, specializing in family practice and sports medicine.

Services will be held ​in California at a later date.

He is survived by wife, Doane Triggs; sons, Kevin Triggs and Bill Davenport; daughters, Kimberly Mullen, Kristen Dawson and Colleen Pappas; brother, Robert Triggs; sister, Mary Dominick; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Patrick Atiz Jr.

Patrick Donato Atiz Jr., 50, of Keaau, died Aug. 24, 2022 at his residence. Born April 20, 1972, in Hilo, he was employed as a truck driver at Yamada &Sons, Inc.

He is survived by daughter, Shayna Atiz Figueroa; son, Kameran Atiz Figueroa; father, Patrick Atiz Sr.; and siblings, Jeremy Atiz, Stacy Atiz and Archie Atiz.

Donald Bryan

Donald Paul Bryan, 78, of Papaaloa died Aug. 26, 2022, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Tacoma, Washington, he was a forester and president of the Hawaii Forest Industry Association.

He is survived by wife, Jana Bryan of Papaaloa; daughter, Julie (Rob) Bryan Pearson of Spokane, Washington; daughter-in-law, Kathryn Norcross Bryan of Richmond, Virginia; sisters, Joy (Dick) Eaton of Greenville, South Carolina, Martha (Chuck) Woodbury of Forest Park, Illinois, and Ruthie (John) Tomlinson of Seattle; and four grandchildren.
