South Hilo officers arrested three drivers while Puna and South Kohala officers nabbed two in each district, according to data released by the Hawaii Police Department. Kona officers arrested one.
So far this year, there have been 659 DUI arrests compared with 723 during the same period last year, according to police.
There have been 540 major accidents so far this year compared with 528 during the same period last year.
Twenty-five fatalities have been recorded on the Big Island’s public roadways this year. By this time in 2021, 15 people had died.
