Margaret Loo

Margaret Louise Loo, 88, of Honokaa, died July 31, 2022, at Hale Ho’ola Hamakua. Born in Kukuihaele, she was a retired hostess at the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, self-employed Waipio Valley taro farmer, member of the Honokaa Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a youth leader in the Church Hawaii Mission.

Visitation 9 to 11 a.m. Aug. 27 at the Honokaa Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Funeral service at 11:30 a.m. Committal service noon Aug. 29 at the Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2 Pavilion. Casual attire.

She is survived by sisters, Caroline (Gilbert) Carvallyo of Waimea, Phyllis (Patrick) Plunkett of Hauula and Stella Abarcar of Kukuihaele; brother, Frank (Jennie) Rodrigues of Waikele; hanai daughter, Charven Rodrigues of Honokaa; two grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Donald Fujiwara

Donald Mitsuru Fujiwara, 87, of Kailua-Kona died July 22, 2022, at a family home in Hilo. Born in Hilo, he was the owner of Kona Fishing Tackle and Yama’s Fishing Supply, co-founder of the Wee-Guy’s Fishing Tournament, sponsor of the Kona Fishing Tackle Keiki Fishing Tournament, a fishing master and avid fisherman.

Visitation from 9 to 11 a.m. Aug. 27 at the Hawaii Big Game Fishing Club at the Honokohau Harbor; a celebration of life will begin at 11. Casual attire. Condolences may be sent to Maile Fujiwara at 92-6006, Puapake St., Kapolei, HI 96707.

He is survived by companion, Ynez Blas of Kona; children, Jon (David Flad) Fujiwara of Mililani, Oahu, and Maile Fujiwara and Patricia Bourke, both of Kapolei, Oahu; daughter-in-law, Lisa Fujiwara of Kona; sister, Rachel (Wilfred) Soong of Kalihi, Oahu; sister-in-law, Debra Fujiwara of Aiea, Oahu; two grandsons; and numerous nieces and nephews.
