36th Annual Ali’i Challenge Roughwater Swim results
The 36th annual Ali’i Challenge 10-kilometer Roughwater Swim was held Sunday, August 14.
Starting at Keahou Bay and finishing at Kamakahonu Beach, the event hosted 13 relay swimmers and 14 solo swimmers. This year saw near perfect conditions. Calm seas and light winds were a blessing, however, the current was negligible, so the swimmers got no “push” assistance.
First overall was Matt Dixon, while the fastest wahine – fourth place overall – was Brenda Avery.
Palani Greenwell experienced a rigging issue on his escort OC-1 and had a delayed start, but pushed through the field to finish 3rd solo kane and fifth overall.
The 37th Ali’i Challenge is schedueld for Sunday, August 13 of 2023.
