BIIF Football: Waveriders struggle against Kapolei, fall 70-0

In their first contest of the season, the Waveriders of Kealakehe proved unable to contain the Kapolei attack, ultimately falling to the Hurricanes by a score of 70-0.

Hurricane quarterback Liatama Amisone picked apart the Waverider defense, completing all 16 of his first-half passes for 234 yards and seven touchdowns. Kapolei led 56-0 at halftime.

The Waveriders failed to sustain any momentum when they had the ball. Getting the start under center, quarterback Cody Jones completed four of his 12 passes for 22 yards. Azalius Lopez led Kealakehe with two yards rushing.

The Waveriders will look to bounce back from a tough debut when they return to the Big Island. Kealakehe next plays on Friday, August 19 against Hilo at Kamehameha-Hawaii. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
