Daniel Taka Sr.

Daniel Theodore Taka Sr., 81, of Hilo, died July 3, 2022, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was a retired district supervisor with the County of Hawaii, Deptartment of Water Supply, a former school bus driver with Roberts Hawaii and was member of the Hilo 7th Day Adventist Church.

Friends may call at 11 a.m. July 13 at Homelani Memerial Park, Ilima Section, for graveside committal services.

He is survived by daughters, Natalie (Woodrow) Waltjen and Shelly (Kelly) Marote of Hilo, and Rhonda (Vernon) Medeiros of Kurtistown; sons, Daniel (Bobbie Morris) Taka Jr. and Derwin Taka of Hilo; brother, Samuel (Sylvia) Taka of Hilo; sister, Victoria (Vern) Chan of California; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Randolph Shin Jr.

Randolph David “Bully” Shin Jr., 52, of Keaau, died April 4, 2022 at Hilo Medical Center. Born Jan. 18, 1970 in Hilo, he was a cook for Waiakea Intermediate and Hilo High school and attended Sure Foundation Puna.

Friends may call at 4 p.m. July 22 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 6 p.m. service. Scattering of ashes will be held at 10 a.m. Sept. 4 at Honaunau Boat Ramp.

He is survived by, fiancé, Vanessa Sarme of Keaau; sons, Skyler (Mahealani) Raymond-Shin of Haleiwa, Oahu, Quinton (Noelani) Raymond-Shin of Hilo, and Kingston Shin and Khenin Shin, both of Keaau; daughter, Tristyn (Prince White) Andrade of Hilo; mother, Faith Shin of Kaiwiki; brother, Branden Shin of Honaunau; sister, Cheryl (Darwin) Okinaka of Hilo; brother, Kalani (Shanda) Shin of Kaiwiki; hanai brother, Darren (Nobilee) Cho of Kona; five grandchildren; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Adeline Coltes

Adeline Leilani “Pebbles” Coltes, 52, of Mountain View, died July 3, 2022, at Hilo Medical Center. Born on Kauai, she was a home health care nurse.

Private services held.

Survived by jhusband, Anthony Coltes of Mountain View; son, Isaiah Rodriguez Gonsalves of Mountain View; daughters, Ieesha (Daniel Pavao) Olivera-Coltes of Hilo, and Cheyenne Olivera-Coltes, Aaliyah Olivera-Coltes and Beyonce Coltes, all of Mountain View; brothers, Joseph (Lynn) Gonsalves and Wayne (Lynn) Gonsalves of Mountain View, and John (Davelynn) Gonsalves of Keaau; sister, Marlena Dedrick of Mountain View; six grandchildren; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Walter Mookini III

Walter Kaohu O’Kaleponi Mookini III, 54, of Waikoloa, died Jan. 30, 2022 at home. Born Aug. 7, 1967, in Harbor City, California, he was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Friends may call for celebration of life serbvices at 11 a.m. July 16 in Kona mauka (please email: pcrowe1966@yahoo.com for directions and access code) and at 10 a.m. Aug. 6 at Valley of the Temples Memorial Park in Kaneohe, Oahu.

He is survived by father, Walter Kaohu Mookini Jr. of Florida; mother, Evanitta (Randy) Crowe of the Big Island; brother, Kala’i (Yolanda) Mookini of Florida; and two aunts.

Arnold Gomes

Arnold Louis Gomes, 61, of Hilo, died June 11, 2022, at his residence. Born in Hilo, he was a supervisor with HPM Building Supply Rental Deptartment, a service technician with the former United Rent All and Pacific Rent All, a sales representative with Rent-A-Center and a member of the Aliis of Hawaii Motorcycle Club, Big Island Chapter.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. July 16 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for an 11 a.m. service. Casual attire; no flowers.

He is survived by wife, Paula Gomes of Hilo; hanai sons, Benjamin Kaili III, Kepa (Briana) Kaili, Josephjames Kaili and Josiah Kaili, all of Hilo; hanai daughters, Nani Kaili and Libby (Joshua) Mendiola of Hilo; brothers, Russell (Carol) Gomes of Las Vegas, Eric (Desiree) Gomes and Eliot (Josie) Gomes of Hilo; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ben, II and Joey Kaili of Hilo; brother-in-law, Richard Correa of Hilo; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

David Taylor

David Walter Taylor, 74, of Pahoa, died May 27, 2022, at his residence. Born in San Francisco, he was a federal police officer at the Pohakuloa Training Area and a U.S. Navy Vietnam War veteran.

Friends may call at 11 a.m. July 16 at Coconut Island for a celebration of life.

He is survived by sons, David Taylor of Hilo and Keola (Noelle) Taylor of Naalehu; daughters, Cindy Cryor and Melissa (Teala Tavares) Taylor of Pahoa; eight grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
