The first weekend in June has arrived, and that can only mean one thing: Ironman 70.3 Hawaii is back.
Ironman 70.3 Hawaii – also known as Honu – will start at 6:20 a.m. today at the Fairmont Orchid. A 1.2-mile swim at Pauoa Bay will be followed by a 56-mile out-and-back bike along the northern part of the Ironman World Championship course to Hawi, finished off with a 13.1-mile, three-loop run at the Fairmont Orchid.
Local favorites in the field include Bree Wee on the women’s side and David Wild on the men’s.
There are 75 slots up for grabs for the 2022 Ironman 70.3 World Championship in St. George Utah, as well as 70 slots for the 2022 Ironman World Championship in Kailua-Kona on Oct. 6 and 8 this year. Of the 70 slots, 24 are reserved for Hawaii residents finishing best in their age group.
