Jack’s Diving Locker — the Kona-based dive shop renowned worldwide for its mission of sharing Hawaii’s underwater world with a focus on friendship and a spirit of adventure — is proud to celebrate 40 years in business.
Founded Aug. 1, 1981, by Jack and Tina Clothier after the couple moved to the Big Island from Oahu, Teri and Jeff Leicher came into Jack’s Diving Locker in the beginning and has been a part of JDL’s rich history that reflects its position as a local institution.
From the time when operations were run out of a van to its two different locations today at Honokohau Harbor and at Coconut Grove Marketplace with a shop with private pool. Jack’s Diving Locker has impacted the lives of thousands, which will forever be part of its legacy.
“Jack’s Diving Locker was founded on the notion of sharing Hawaii’s beautiful underwater world with others,” said Teri Leicher, managing partner of Jack’s Diving Locker. “Now, nearly 40 years later and looking back on that, the entire team here — really a family — is so proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish. From our humble beginnings to more than 20,000 scuba certifications, we’re living our dream, and we thank everyone who has walked through our doors over the past four decades for that.”
