Ronald Berinobis

Ronald Mata Berinobis, 77, died March 26, 2022. Born Oct. 27, 1944, on Oahu, he was a form-setter, mason and laborer.

Friends may call at 11:30 a.m. May 15 at the Ha’alilio Residence at 92-8953 Iolani Lane in Ocean View.

He is survived by daughters, Dymond Berinobis of Ocean View and Elua (Nicole) Berinobis of Waimea; sisters, Loretta Abalos of Wahiawa, Oahu, Barbara Lapinad of Waimanalo, Oahu, and Sandra Naone of Las Vegas; six grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Philemon Austria

Philemon Kahanu Austria, 93, of Hilo, died April 14, 2022, at Legacy Hilo Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Born in Haiku, Maui, he was retired from both the Hawaii Army National Guard and Hawaii County Police Department, a fisherman, photographer and member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo.

Friends may call at noon May 19 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for a 1 p.m. service. Cremation to follow. Graveside urn committal service with military funeral honors at noon May 24 at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2 pavilion. Casual attire.

He is survived by son, Wendell Austria of Kalapana; and four grandchildren.

Lorraine Yadao

Lorraine Lauriana Yadao, 88, of Kapaau, died March 29, 2022 at her residence. Born Sept. 28, 1933, in Pahala, she was a homemaker and a member of the Retired Seniors Volunteer Program, Hawaii Ballroom Association and a former ballroom dance instructor at the Kamana Seniors Center.

Friends may call at 10 a.m. May 14 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel in Hilo; memorial service at 11 a.m. The family requests casual attire.

She is survived by son, Paul Yadao of Kohala; son-in-law, Sam Carvalho of Kohala; daughters, Tina Beleno of Honolulu and Lynettte (Martin Ellazar, Jr.) Yadao of Kailua-Kona; brothers, David (Jean) Lauro of Hilo, Joseph (Julie) Lauro of Pepeekeo, Daniel (Audrey) Lauro of Honolulu; sisters, Linda (Arnold) Tengan of Hilo and Violet Bueno of Honokaa; 11 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Dirk Yoshina

Dirk Yoshimi Yoshina, 67, of Hilo, died April 25, 2022 at his residence. Born June 14, 1954, in Hilo, he retired as a sales representative for Suisan Company, Ltd., was previously employed as a manager for Sure Save Supermarket/Wiki-Wiki Mart, and member of the Rotary Club of Hilo.

Friends may call at 12:30 p.m. May 15 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel in Hilo for a 2 p.m. service. Casual attire is requested. No flowers or koden (monetary offerings).

He is survived by partner, Evelyn Maki of Hilo; mother, Chiemi Yoshina of Hilo; brother, Albert Yoshina of Honolulu; sister, Erna (William) Shamburger of Hilo; a niece and a nephew; an aunt; and numerous cousins.

Gary Iwaoka

Gary “Iggy” Hajime Iwaoka, 78, of Hilo, died April 28, 2022 at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born Dec. 25, 1943, in Hilo, he retired as the operations manager of the Volcano House, Nani Mau Gardens and Naniloa Hotel, U.S. Army veteran, and an avid golfer, bowler, fisherman and member of the Lehua Jaycees.

Private services held.

He is survived by wife, Doris Iwaoka of Hilo; daughter, Kari (Keenen) Yoshimura of Hilo; step-daughters, Kim Fujiyama and Kristie Kosmides, both of Hilo; step-son, Ian (Christine) Fujiyama of Virginia; brothers, Dennis (Sandra) Iwaoka, Clayton Iwaoka and Harris (Cathy) Iwaoka. all of Hilo; six grandchildren; and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
