Firefighters quickly extinguished a brush fire that broke out Wednesday afternoon off Makala Boulevard in Kailua-Kona.
Approximately an acre was scorched in a vacant lot makai of Bank of Hawaii in the Kona Commons Shopping Center.
Bank of Hawaii and AT&T were temporarily closed while Hawaii Fire Department personnel doused the flames. Makala Boulevard was also closed while firefighters battld the fire.
There were no injuries and the cause of the fire had not been determined.
