In a 13-0 trouncing of Hawaii Prep Wednesday, the Warriors were firing on all cylinders. On offense, Kamehameha knocked out 13 hits – five were extra-base hits, including Dylan Hanson’s second-inning home run – and drew 10 walks. Kamehameha was able to build their depth as the game progressed, with 17 players getting at-bats. Hanson led all players with three hits, while he, Kaohu Kawelu, Clemson Julian and Jacob Momohara each drove in a pair of runs.
“We don’t have too many games this year,” said Kamehameha head coach Andy Correa. “This is one of the first games that they were fortunate enough to just about all get in.”
On the mound, Makana Carbonel-Magnus and Jonah Reich combined to strike out 15 batters in six innings, allowing just one hit as the Warriors cruised to the win.
“It’s always good when they throw strikes,” said Correa. “It makes it easy on the defense when they strike out that many guys.”
Carbonel-Magnus got the nod for the start and earned the win, striking out six in his two innings of work. Reich then pitched four innings in relief for the Warriors. Krystof Kalina took the loss for HPA.
Kamehameha (4-0) will be back in action next Tuesday, when they host Pahoa.
