107 new COVID-19 cases reported in past week

Some 107 new COVID-19 cases were reported during the past week on Hawaii Island, the Hawaii Emergency Management Agency reported in its weekly update Wednesday. Since February 2020, there have been a total of 26,341 coronavirus cases reported on the island.

Statewide, 1,194 new cases were reported during the seven-day period. The average daily number of cases reported was 148. Hawaii Islands’s daily average was 10 and the positivity rate 3.2%.

As of Wednesday, 176 cases on Hawaii Island were considered “active” or having been reported within the past 14 days. Statewide, there were 1,952 cases.

Twenty-six people were reported hospitalized Wednesday, two of them on Hawaii Island.

Statewide, three new coronavirus-related deaths were reported last week, bringing the total fatality count reported since February 2020 to 1,382. On Hawaii Island, 184 deaths had been reported as of Wednesday, unchanged from last week.
