Waimea Trails and Greenways hosted a workday on Ke Ala Kahawai O Waimea – The Streamside Trail of Waimea on March 26.

Jon Paul Mangarin, owner of Rainy Day Landscaping, donated his time and woodchipper to reduce the accumulated brush alongside the trail from fallen trees. The cadre of volunteers was inspiring and the workday concluded early due to their hardwork.

With the work completed, all gathered to share a simple lunch under the shade of the trees.

The community, including students from Hawaii Preparatory Academy and Waimea School taking part in community service classes, has come together to maintain this county linear park through the heart of Waimea. The county is working on extending the easement the next mile.
