Daniel Seguerre Sr.
Daniel Guerrero Seguerre Sr., 90, of Ookala, died Jan. 31, 2022, at his residence. Gorn in Hilo, he was a retired tractor/mower operator with the former Hamakua Sugar Co., and a U.S. Army veteran who was awarded the Korean Service Medal with four bronze service stars and the Purple Heart.

Manuel Sarme
Manuel “Manning” “Pops” Sarme, 86, formerly of Papaikou, died Jan. 27, 2022 in Hilo. Born Nov. 25, 1935 in Pepeekeo, he was a retired mason, veteran of the United States Marine Corps, fisherman, boxer for the 50th State Athletic Club, owner and head coach for Papaikou CYO Boxing Club, taught coconut weaving at numerous schools on the Big Island and was a member of the American Legion, Hilo Hospice Grieving Group and assistant trainer for AP Boxing.
Friends may call at 4 p.m. April 1 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 6 p.m. service. Friends may also call at 9 a.m. April 4 at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2 for burial.
He is survived by sons, Alvin (Vanessa) Owens-Sarme of Maui, Manuel (Lisa Medeiros) Sarme of Mountain View, James (Cherie) Sarme of Kapaa, Kauai, and Wayne Sarme of Hilo; daughter, Vanessa (Bully Shin) Sarme of Keaau; 18 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

Norman Lyman II
Norman Keonaona Lyman II, 77, of Kaumana, died March 1, 2022 at his residence. Born Dec. 17, 1944 in Hilo, he was formerly employed by Glover’s, Kuwaye Bro. and Hawaiian Airlines, retired as a systems control operator for Hawaiian Electric Light Company; was member of the IBEW and Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Papaikou, St. Joseph Church and School Ohana, East Hawaii Kamehameha Schools Parent Association, Hawaii Pop Warner Football Association, and Hilo Boys Club and was a past president of the Hilo High Vikings Football Booster Club.

Davelyn Healani Kauhi, 69, of Hilo, died April 7, 2020 at her residence. Born July 23, 1950 in Hilo, she was a former sales clerk for Ross Dress for Less in Hilo and a school health aide for the Department of Education. and a member of Community of Christ Church in Hilo.

Violet Hanayo Cook, 85, of Hilo, died March 22, 2022 at her residence. Born Feb. 17, 1937 in Ola’a, she was a retired Realtor for Century 21, opened and operated Violet Cook Realty in Hilo, a teacher in Texas and at Laupahoehoe High School and Waiakea Intermediate School, and a member of the Hilo Yacht Club, and Hawaii Shima Fukuoka Kenjinkai.

Gary Bremer
Gary W. Bremer, 65, of Kailua-Kona, died Feb. 23, 2022. Born Sept. 5, 1956, in Pampa, Texas, he was a greeter for the Fish Hopper restaurant, merchandiser for Hallmark, chauffeur for the Tony Honda car dealership, a sous chef, owner of Kona Thrift Shop, and a minister in several churches in California, Texas and Hawaii.

Albert “Baer” Mitsuru Ikeda, 89, of Kealakekua, died March 21, 2022 at Hospice of Kona’s Nakamaru Hale. Born Oct. 9, 1932, in Holualoa, he was a counselor and teacher at Konawaena High School, member of BANKOH Kumiai, Retired Teachers Organization, Disabled American Veterans (DAV) and a veteran of the U.S. Army and National Guard.
