Marian Reyes

Marian Rodrigues Reyes, 92, of Kapaau, died Feb. 20, 2022, at Kohala Hospital Long Term Care. Born in Mahukona, North Kohala, she was a cafeteria worker/custodian with Kohala High and Elementary School, housekeeper and inspectress for the former Hyatt Waikoloa, and a member of the Hawi Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Ahahui Ka’ahumanu O Kohala Society.

Friends may all at 8:30 a.m. March 26 at Hawi Sacred Heart Catholic Church for a 9 a.m. Ka’ahumanu service and eulogy, followed by a Mass at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at the Hawi Catholic Church Cemetery. Casual attire.

She is survived by son, Albert (Alice) Reyes Jr. of New York; daughters, Diane Reyes (Michael) McHugh of Utah and Raynette Reyes (Chad) Fukui of Hilo; sister, Agnes Chabotte of Maui; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jeanette Gouveia

Jeanette Kaui Gouveia, 73, of Hilo died March 1, 2022, at Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center. Born in Honolulu, she was an entrepreneur and small business owner and member of the Hilo Apostolic Church.

Friends may call at 9:30 a.m. March 25 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 10:30 a.m. service. Burial to follow at Alae Cemetery. Casual attire.

She is survived by sons, Frank (Tarsha) Gouveia of Mountain View, and John (Jennifer) Gouveia of Waipahu, Oahu; daughters, Kuulei (Kerine) Cooks of Oahu, and Catherine (Randall Thomas) Gouveia of Hilo; siblings, Lorraine (Paul) Naki, Lawrence (Ruth) Paglinawan and Ruby Paglinawan, all of Oahu, and Desiree Poa of Keaau; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Janet Lang

Janet Phillips Lang, 86, of Hilo, died July 20, 2020, at Life Care Center in Hilo. Born Feb. 22, 1934, she was a nurse, a crisis intervention worker for children, and worked with the Special Olympics.

No services are planned.

She is survived by son, Steven Lang; sister, Nina Klooster; and nieces and a nephew.

Jade Kim

Jade Mi Hwa Kim, 50, of Hilo, died March 8, 2022, at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Facility. Born Nov. 7, 1971, in Seoul, South Korea, she was an adventurer and world traveler.

She is survived by mother, Tae Sool Kim; brother, Daniel Kim; sister, Donna Kim Luther; and two nephews.

Edith Crawford

Edith “Edie” Crawford, 79, of Kapaau, died March 17, 2022, at Hilo Medical Center. She was the founder and sole proprietor of Canyon Explorations.

She is survived by children, Garrett Schniewind, Kerry Schniewind and Laurie Staveley.

Jovencio Collado

Jovencio “Joe” Ulep Collado, 57, of Hilo, died Feb. 28, 2022, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte, the Philippines, he was a registered nurse.

Private services were held.

He is survived by wife, Sonia Collado of Hilo; daughter, Taylor-Ann Collado of Hilo; sisters, Lilia (Manuel Jr.) Collado-Mero of Kona, Luzviminda (Randall) Ho of Honolulu; brother, Rogelio Collado of Waipahu, Oahu; and nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Elizabeth Halualani

Elizabeth “Peka” Halualani, 89, of Hilo, died Feb. 12, 2022, at her daughter’s residence in Pahoa. Born in Papaaloa, she was a homemaker and member of the Kauhane Hemolele Oka Malamalama Church.

Friends may call at 11 a.m. March 27 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 1 p.m. service. Friends may also call at 9 a.m. March 28 at Hawaii Veterans Cemgery No. 2 Pavilion for a committal service. Casual attire.

She is survived by sons, Albert (Denise) Mahi Sr. of Keaau and John Halualani III of Hilo; daughters, Alberta (Randy) Peeples and Daraleen Halualani of Pahoa, Galewyn Halualani of Maui and Leonalisa (Kevin) Kahakua of Kailua-Kona; brother, Jacob Mahi of Honolulu; 70 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; 25 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Norman Kalima

Norman Ahapaeaina Schenck Kalima, 87, of Hilo, died Jan. 15, 2022, at Legacy Hilo Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Born in Hilo, he served in the military for a few years, retired as chief agent for Hawaiian Airlines and played music with his family, “The Hilo Kalimas.”

Private services held. Friends may call for a public drive-through visitation from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m March 27 at the Kalima ‘Ohana Hale.

She is survived by daughter, Charissa Kalima; sons, Harlan Kalima, Mike Terry and James Terry; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Galen Yaeger

Galen George Yaeger, 73, of Hilo died Jan. 20, 2022, at his residence. Born in Park Falls, Wisconsin, he was a U.S. Army Vietnam War veteran.

He is survived by wife, Necita Yaeger of Hilo; children, Heidi Rose Yaeger of Honolulu, Richard (Krystallyn) Udtohan of Mountain View, Michael Udtohan of Virginia, Jenifer Ramsier of Virginia, and Joan Udtohan of Hilo; brother, Tom Yaeger of Alabama; and 10 grandchildren.
