Roberta Lee De Mello, 66, of Captain Cook, died Feb. 10, 2022 at Kona Community Hospital. Born May 20, 1955, in Hilo, she was the former director of nursing at Kona Community Hospital and was a member and assisted in the Children’s Ministry at Kona Faith Center.

Henry Joseph “Jerry” Martin Jr., 89, of Hilo, died Feb. 20, 2022 at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. Born March 28, 1932, in Honolulu, he was a retired heavy equipment operator and taxi driver.

Kyle Vernon Ancheta, 70, of Hilo, died Feb. 10, 2022, at his residence. Born in Hilo, he was a retired cook and classroom cleaner at Waiakea Intermediate School, grocery clerk for the former Sure Save and Food Fair Supermarkets, veteran and retired Sergeant for the U.S. Army and Hawaii Army National Guard, 299 Infantry Brigade during the Iraq War, member of Big Island National Guard Retirees Association, RSVP Senior Volunteer, Panaewa Rodeo Association and bowler for the Teacher’s League, C. Brewer, HGEA, ILWU and Kona Senior Bowling Club.

Pedro D. Haspe, 98, of Hilo, died Feb. 14, 2022 at his residence. Born Nov. 13, 1923, in Hawi, he was a retired from thefactory supervisor for the former Puna Sugar Co., a member of the Hilo Orchid Society and former East Kawailani Kumiai, and a World War II U.S. Army veteran who served during World War II.
