Big Islanders jointed residents across the Aloha State on Saturday for the Hawaii Freedom Convoy held in support of Canadian truckers seeking freedom against COVID-19 mandates.

Residents on the Big Island, Kauai, Maui, Oahu and Molokai took part in the convoy on multiple islands. The event was held in support of hundreds of truckers from both Canada and the United States who drove through Canadian provinces and arrived in Ottawa, Canada’s capital, on Jan. 29 with a rally at Parliament Hill. The convoy was joined by thousands of pedestrian protesters. The initial movement was to protest vaccine mandates for crossing the United States border. It evolved into a protest against all COVID-19 mandates.
