Sammy Van Nguyen, 51, of Hilo, died Feb. 11, 2022, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in South Vietnam, he was a farmer.
Friends may call at 9 a.m. Feb. 22 at Malia Puka O Kalani Catholic Church in Keaukaha for 11 a.m. Mass. Services and burial will be finalized in Charlotte, North Carolina. Casual attire. No flowers.
He is survived by wife, Nhum Thi Su of Charlotte, North Carolina; sons, Jimmy Su and Tommy Su of Charlotte, North Carolina; daughters, Amissa Su and Maria Su of Charlotte, North Carolina; brothers, Son Doan and Truong Doan of Charlotte, North Carolina; sister, Oahh Doan of South Vietnam; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Morayta Gamiao
Morayta Cabus Gamiao, 79, of Honokaa, died Jan. 20, 2022 at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born Feb. 4, 1942, in Ilocos Sur, Philippines, she was employed by Donna’s Cookies in Paauilo as a part-time baker.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to noon Feb. 23 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for visitation. Public memorial service will be held at a later date. Casual attire is requested.
She is survived by daughters, Lorna Gamiao of Philippines and Leslie (Jose Jr.) Miguel of Honokaa; sons, Jonah (Florence) Gamiao, Joven (Maria Antonia) Gamiao and Joveleo (Analyn) Gamiao, all of Philippines; sisters, Lolita Cabo and Nellie Felicitas, both of Philippines; brother, Pepito Cabus of Philippines; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
