George Henry Greenhouse Jr., 78, of Hilo died Jan. 30, 2022, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Kohala, he was retired postal clerk for the United States Postal Service, member of Konko Mission of Hilo and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
Private services held. Family requests flowers and koden (monetary gifts) be omitted.
He is survived by wife, Jerilyn Kuwada Greenhouse of Hilo; daughter, Cori-Anne Greenhouse of Mountain View; son, Barry (Christine) Greenhouse of Libertyville, Illinois; brothers, Woodrow (Louise) Greenhouse of San Jose, California, Larry (Alice) Aono of Hilo, and Ronald Inoue of Hilo; three grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Darlene Leina’ala Hanohano-Hoopai, 64, of Hilo, died on Oct. 11, 2021, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, she was a Hamakua District County of Hawaii Parks and Recreation supervisor and member of the Wild Orchids and Panaewa Rain Forest Bunco Clubs.
Friends may call at 9 a.m. Feb. 19 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 10:30 a.m. service. Casual attire. No flowers.
She is survived by husband, Samuel Hoopai of Hilo; daughter, Johndella (Jeremy) Medeiros of Hilo; hanai sons, Roland (Abby) Silva of Washington, Jarrett (Roxanne) Hanohano, Sherwood (Henry-Lynn) Silva and Ralpheal Silva of Hilo; brothers, Kimo Hanohano and Thomas (Rachelle) Hanohano of Hilo and Samuel Perreira of Kwajalein; sisters, Isabel (Wendell) Vincent of Hilo, Iris Roelse of California and Agnes K Fesolai of Utah; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Darnell Mahi
Darnell Kaniala Mahi, 74, of Hilo, died Jan. 9, 2022 at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born Nov. 1, 1947, in Hilo, he was a retired truck driver for the former Hilo Coast Processing Co., member of the Churcha of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, founding member of the Kumakaula Canoe Club (a.k.a. Puna Canoe Club), and a U.S. Army veteran.
Friends may call at 9 a.m. Feb. 18 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Stake Center (1373 Kilauea Avenue) in Hilo for a 10 a.m. service. Burial will follow at the East Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Casual attire is requested.
He is survived by son, Ammaron Mahi of Hilo; daughter, Ashlee (Ernie) Mahi-Miyasaki of Hilo; sisters, Maydean Bowman of Kohala and Ilima Mahi of North Dakota; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces and cousins.
