With Hualalai in the background, ocean water evaporates in plastic tubes to create sea salt at Kona Salt Farm at the Natural Energy Laboratory of Hawaii Authority. Saltwater is drawn from 2,200 feet below the ocean’s surface off the Kona Coast.
