Ricarte Dela Rose

Ricarte Guzman Dela Rosa, 96, of Keaau, died Jan. 20, 2022, at his residence. Born May 13, 1925 in Ewa, Oahu, he was a sugar cane seed cutter for Puna Sugar Plantation.

Friends may call at 4 p.m. Feb. 3 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 6 p.m. Service. Friends may also call at 11 a.m. at Homelani Memorial Park (Ilimia Section) for a graveside service.

He is survived by sons, Rogelio (Denia) Dela Rosa and Pedro (Norma) Dela Rosa of Keaau, and Bernabe (Emma) Dela Rosa of Arizona; daughters, Imelda (late Fausto) Bumagat, Melania (Kenn Harada) Dela Rosa Bermudez and Flordeliza Dela Rosa of Keaau, and Matilde (Nick) Neri of Las Vegas; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Lucile Miller Pratt

Lucille “Taps” Miller Pratt, 98, died Jan. 18, 2022, in Honolulu. Born July 1, 1923, in Washington, D.C., she taught for 20 years at Jefferson Elementary School in Waikiki, danced with the Steptaculars (a troop of women over 65 that performed weekly at many venues on Oahu, in her senior years, a member of Central Union Church, and was also active in the professional educational sororities, Delta Kapa Gamma and Pi Lambda Theta.

She is survived by her children, Barbara (Joe) Elm, Robert (Colette) Miller, and Judy Miller, all of Honolulu, Anne Miller (David Johnson) of Kaneohe, Oahu, and Frank (Etsuko) Miller IV of Captain Cook; four stepchildren, Seth (Lynn) Pratt of Georgia, Kathryn (Bob) Somers of Florida, Peggy (Gary) Seaman (Gary) of Montana, and Jane (Mike) of California; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
