Elizabeth Leopoldino

Elizabeth Leinaala Leopoldino, 81, of Hilo died Jan. 8, 2021, at her residence. Born in Hilo, she was the retired co-founder of Leo’s Rubbish Service.

Friends may call from 8 to 9:30 a.m. for visitation Jan. 27 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Private services to follow. Casual attire. Family requests no flowers.

She is survived by husband, Donald Leopoldino of Hilo; children, Linda (Landis) Embernate, Leonard Leopoldino, Leighton (Momi) Leopoldino, Jeffrey (Toni) Leopoldino, and Donna (Wayne) DeLuz, all of Hilo, and Kurt (Colleen) Leopoldino of Oahu; brothers, William (Jill) Ma-e of California and Henry (Jackie) Ma-e of Indiana; 13 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Lorne Ito

Lorne Radley Hisatoshi Ito, 56, of Mountain View, died Jan. 14, 2022, at his residence. Born in Pahala, he was an electrician.

He is survived by son, Lorne Hisatoshi Ito of Hilo; mother, Romana Ito of Hilo; sister, Joy (Ronald Carver) Ito-Carver of Hilo; niece, Marhysa Ito-Carver of Hilo; and numerous uncles, aunts and cousins.

Carolyn Costa

Carolyn Ann Leimomi Costa, 77, of Hilo, died Dec. 24, 2021, at her residence. Born in Olaa, she worked for several attorneys in Honolulu and Hilo and in the insurance industry.

No services.

She is survived by husband, Wendell Costa of Hilo; sons, Warren Costa of Puna and Lee (Ayaka) Costa of Hilo; daughter, Lisa (Don) Washburn of Oregon; brother, Clifford (Laurie) Akau of Hilo; six grandsons and one granddaughter; and one great-granddaughter.

Isami Tanioka

Isami Tanioka, 98, of Pahoa, died Dec. 31, 2021 at Hilo Medical Center. Born August 14, 1923, in Kapoho, he was the retired proprietor of Isami Tanioka Transportation and Farm, Inc., and a member of the Puna Hongwanji Buddhist Temple.

Private services held. The family requests that flowers and koden (monetary offerings) be omitted.

He is survived by sister, Harumi (Shozo) Nakamura of Honolulu; and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

Emily Galario

Emily Rosita Galario, 82, of Pahoa, died Jan. 6, 2022 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in 1939 in Hilo, she was a retired truck driver for Hilo Coast Processing.

She is survived by sons, Larry (Bill Gist) Galario of Pahoa and Glenn (Lei) Galario of Kurtistown; daughters, Virginia (Ralph) Kahele and Lynette (Chris Guerrero) Galario, all of Hilo, Loveymae Galario (Jalyn Like) and Gwendolyn (Edward Tejada) Galario, all of Pahoa, and LeeAnn (Rolando) Guzman of Maui; sister, Lu Cristobal; 20 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Francis Lincoln

Francis “Lani” Bernard Lincoln, 81, of Pahoa died Jan. 9, 2022, at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Hospice Facility. Born in Hilo, he was a transportation driver for the Hawaii County Economic Opportunity Counsel and a former member of the Hakalau Senior Softball Team.

Friends may call at 9:30 a.m. Jan. 26 for Mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo. Burial to follow at Homelani Memorial Park. Casual attire.

He is survived by children, Zerna Foo of Mountain View, Avery (Valerie) Lincoln of Glenwood, Jared (Kelly) Lincoln of Hilo, Zaneta (Steven) Sloan of Spring Branch, Texas, and Lyman Lincoln of Pahoa; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
