The American Red Cross is assisting seven people impacted by a structure fire Friday afternoon in the Alii Kai subdivision of Kailua-Kona.
The home was one of two structures destroyed by fire Friday in West Hawaii, according to the Hawaii Fire Department and American Red Cross.
The Alii Kai fire was reported at 3:24 p.m. on lower Plumeria Road, south of Royal Poinciana Drive. It destroyed a five-unit home before firefighters could extinguish the flames.
All seven people escaped the home uninjured, according to American Red Cross Pacific Island Region Hawaii County Director Marty Moran. Four of the them lived in individual units while a family of three resided in another.
The nonprofit has provided those affected with financial assistance, as well as supplying prescriptions for two individuals, he said.
The first structure fire was reported at 2:47 p.m. across from the KTA Express in Kealakekua. Moran said the nonprofit was not assisting anyone in that incident because the structure was vacant at the time of the fire.
