Ann Phillips Roney, 87, of Hilo died Dec 27, 2021, at her residence. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, she was a medical technologist at Kaiser Hospital in Honolulu and Kohala, Honokaa, and Ka‘u hospitals, and at Hilo Medical Group, Realtor for Day-Lum Realty, member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Hilo Yacht Club, and volunteered for the Friends of the Children’s Justice Center and Friends of the Library.
Friendsmay call at 9 a.m. Jan. 4 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Papaikou for 10 a.m. Mass. Donations in memory of Ann may be made to the Friends of the Children’s Justice Center-East Hawaii at PO Box 6908, Hilo, HI 96720.
She is survived by husband, John Frederick Roney of Hilo; children, Beth Roney DeYoung of Hilo, John Frederick Roney Jr. of Santa Rosa, California, Katherine Phillips Roney of Redondo Beach, California, and Mary Patricia Roney of Honolulu; and six grandchildren.

Nobuaki Ikeda
Nobuaki Ikeda, 94, of Kealakekua, died Dec. 10, 2021 at Kona Community Hospital. Born Nov. 2, 1927, in Pahoa, he was a retired teacher at Konawaena High School, worked in the landscaping department at the King Kamehameha Hotel, coffee farmer, member of Bank Kumiai, advisor for the Kona Young Farmers and a U.S. Army veteran.

He is survived by wife, Molly Ikeda of Kealakekua; sons, Don (Lynn) Ikeda of Pearl City, Oahu, and Dean (Cindy) Ikeda Loveland, Colorado; brothers, Keichi (Grace) Ikeda and George (Paulina) Ikeda, all of Kailua-Kona; two grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
