Kona Oceanfront Gallery is celebrating this holiday season by bringing back the Best of Hawaii’s Artists with its annual After Christmas Holiday Paint Nights booking three of well-known and talented artists in Hawaii Dec. 28 through Dec. 30.
This year, they will be ringing in the new year with the gallery debut of Hawaii’s Premier Plein Air Impressionist, Rod Cameron from 5 to 9 p.m. Dec. 28. Cameron has been painting on the Big Island for nearly 20 years and has received over 50 awards in illustrative art, painting and design. His lively, in-depth workshops and successful one man shows, has become one of Hawaii’s most collected and best-known painters in the islands. As a plein air painter, Cameron is adept at painting outdoor landscapes combined with the colorful movements of the native people of Hawaii and it’s culture.
Rockwood, Kona’s own legendary ink master, will be returning to the gallery from 5 to 9 p.m. Dec. 29 painting live and displaying his latest art collection. Rockwood has created art for many famous rock stars and celebrities including Cher, Madonna, Heather Locklear, Nikki Sixx of Motley Crew and Bret Michaels from Poison — just to name a few.
Walfrido Garcia is best known for being a prominent figure and groundbreaker in seascape art. Beside his traditional seascapes his trailblazing series includes his collaborations with Wyland, his koa wood series, simple seas collection, surfboard art, fire and fantasy and Disney collaborations. His artwork can be found in the nation’s finest art galleries. Walfrido is also known as Hawaii’s Premier Artist of Natural Wonders and the longest tenured artist at Kona Oceanfront Gallery (formerly Wyland Gallery). He will be returning 2 to 7 p.m. Dec. 30 to where it all started 30 years ago, for an afternoon show of live painting and the unveiling of some of his new releases.
Catch one or all three shows between Christmas and New Years and ring in the new year with fine art from Kona Oceanfront Gallery. There will be live painting demonstrations all three days, photo and autograph sessions, wine and cheese, pupus and soft drinks and beer sponsored by the Kona Brew Pub.
