WAIPAHU – The Konawaena Wildcats fell in their opening-round contest Wednesday night against the Spartans of Maryknoll in the Division II Girls Volleyball State Championships.

The Spartans bested the Wildcats in three sets, winning by a score of 25-18, 25-23, 25-16. Maryknoll advances to face No. 2 seed Waimea, while Konawaena will square off against either Le Jardin or Kalaheo Thursday at 3:30 p.m. in the consolation bracket.
