Real holiday spirit
There’s a lot of attention and viral videos of people doing dramatic things during the holidays.
On Nov. 29, mid-morning, I saw a lady who showed generosity and humility. She was leaving Walmart Kona with a shopping cart full of stuff. She pulled her toddler daughter out of the cart. Then she struggled to pull money out of her wallet. She gave her daughter some money to put in the Salvation Army’s red kettle.
Hey lady, mahalo for your kindness and teaching it to your daughter.

Congress
should pass
the Judiciary Act
Nowhere in the Constitution does it say that we have to have nine Supreme Court justices. Nor would it require a Constitutional amendment to add more seats. In fact, Congress has expanded the Supreme Court at least five times throughout American history to match both the expanding American electorate and the number of Federal Appeals Courts.
We need our democracy to modernize and adapt over time; that’s exactly how our government should work. That’s why we need the Judiciary Act, which would add four seats to the Supreme Court. Not only does it have historical precedent, adding more seats would restore balance to the court, which is currently highly partisan with a 6-3 right-wing super majority.
There’s nothing stopping Congress from adding justices — except for the political will to do it, of course. That’s why I’m urging Congress to pass the Judiciary Act of 2021 and add four seats to the Supreme Court.
