A 37-year-old Ocean View man remained in critical condition Saturday evening following a two-vehicle collision involving an ATV in Hawaiian Ocean View Estates.

Responding to a 9 a.m. Saturday call, police determined the man was riding a green 2002 Honda Rancher ATV and heading northeast on Coconut Drive when he failed to stop at Plumeria Lane and sideswiped a southbound green 2000 Dodge van, according to the Hawaii Police Department. The rider was then ejected from the ATV.

The 37-year-old was transported to Kona Community Hospital and then to The Queen’s Medical Center on Oahu. He was listed in critical condition Saturday night

The driver of the Dodge van, a 65-year-old man, and two women, ages 64 and 68, riding in the vehicle were uninjured.

Police said speed and impairment are possible factors in the collision.
