Brenda Caravalho

Brenda “Breeze” Joy Caravalho, 74, of Mountain View, died Sept. 20, 2021, at her residence. Born Aug. 31, 1947, in Keaau, she was a retired manager for Yamada Transfer Inc. and member of Saint Theresa Catholic Church, Mountain View.

A public visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Nov. 26 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo. A private service and burial to follow. Face masks and social distancing required. Family requests casual attire be worn.

She is survived by daughters, Natalie (Dominic) Pacheco, Sherri Caravalho; son, Stacey Caravalho; hanai children, Lori and Steven Kiyonaga; brother, Franklin Baptiste; former spouse, Ernest Caravalho; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two hanai grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jean Ishizu

Jean Natsue Ishizu, 86, of Laupahoehoe, died Oct. 8, 2021, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Aug. 21, 1935, in Hilo, she was a retired Registered Nurse for the former Honokaa Hospital and member of Papaaloa Hongwanji Mission.

Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Nov. 27 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for a public visitation. A private service follows. Casual attire.

She is survived by sons, Jack (Susan) Ishizu of Honolulu, Roy (Caroline DeMattos) Ishizu of Laupahoehoe; daughter, Kay (Glenn) Hada of Honolulu; four grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mitsuo Kitagawa

Mitsuo “Blackie” Kitagawa, 90, of Hilo, died Nov. 1, 2021, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was the retired proprietor for Nursery Things, Inc. and a member of Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin, South Panaewa Kumiai, Hilo Jaycees, Lions Club, Lincoln Wreckers and Born Losers Golf Club.

Private services were held. Family requests no monetary gifts or flowers.

He is survived by wife, Yaeko Kitagawa of Hilo; sons, Stephan Kitagawa, Clifford Kitagawa, both of Hilo, Bruce Kitagawa of Kona; daughter, Jane Chang of California; four grandchildren; one great-grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
